DotA Allstars vs StarCraft!!!

What is your view on DotA? About 98% of teens here in the Philippines love it and play just about nothing else. The youngest ones, like 12 -14 year-olds, have no idea what StarCraft is all about, although almost all of the elder gamers have played and mastered it.

Ever since SCII was announced, I was deeply excited and wanted to tell every former-SC-player-turned-DotA-player in here. And told every DotA fan that their days are numbered. StarCraft will return in the form of SCII.

While I wait for SCII to be released, I suggested to my classmates that we play a game of SC.
But their replies:

(1) I hate SC. It is sooo complicated and hard to play. I like DotA because the gameplay is easy.

(2) SC is an old game. I want to play newer 3d games because I don't want to look like a dork.

(3) DotA is the BEST!!! SC is for oldtimers.

(4) Go play that stupid game by yourself!

Can anyone give me some tips on how to bring back the glory of SC in this country?

Fuck DOTA, hates it. Even if I'm not an direct sc1 fan, sc2 will own the shit out of most things. (Unless Warcraft 4 will be made, if ever.)

Ah yes. I live in the Philippines and go out alot so I know what it's like. Even the girls like playing DotA!!! :o
I used to play it all the time with my classmates after school. Sometimes it's Counter-Strike but we play DotA almost all the time.

Also. I got bored of DotA a long long time ago. But even before I still loved SC and I still love it. In my old school I felt like I was the only individual in my batch who really liked and still played StarCraft. Old school PC game freak. :)

If they can't deal playing Starcraft, of course they don't like it. Starcraft is a game for skilled players, not some nubcakes who want to see flashy effects and feel like they're doing something by clicking a button now and then and staring at the screen.

As for tips: Give up. Some people are just not competitive, and prefer being fed with a spoon rather then putting themselves up to a challenge. They will never like Starcraft no matter how hard you try. Your best bet would be to find people who have yet heard of DotA and have a long attention span, and try to teach them to play Starcraft in a fun way.

In order to institute Starcraft, we must use the Russian government to do so. We will hire former KGB spies to kidnap there parents and hold ransom notes telling them to convert to the ways of SC and SCII in order to get there parents back.

I'm part of the 2% left playing other games... mostly starcraft... i mean cmon! most 12-14 yr olds only know dota or counter strike... but I'm 14 and i know more SC than DOTA... even tho I'm Sorta a noob at sc and UBER n00b at dota... Starcraft is an Internationally played game and DotA is what, a future stand alone game? If dota became a stand alone game I'd shoot myself with a C10 canister rifle on the leg and then let a zergling eat my whole body... Screw Dota Kids, PLAY A MANLY GAME!!! Here's what you do, you get really, really, legendary at DotA, than you go and pwn all your classmates and call them noobs. Than you go and say that DotA is what noobs play, and StarCraft is what the pros play.

Yes I agree. As a chess player, I personally think that an SC:BW game is a majorly pimped-up version of a chess game. You should think your moves thoroughly and act quickly.

DOTA SUCKS!!! Sgt as you know I'm Filipino too....the reason they DONT like to play SC(or any other RTS games) is because 99% of gamers here are complete idiots....who play without any strategy of sorts. All they know is to Attack, BS, Run, Die and Attack again. I can point out some reasons WHY they cant handle playing Starcraft....


1. They cant handle the "Pressure" of controlling 2 units or more.
2. They're to slow at the mouse...
3. Too slow on the Keyboards (The idiots don't even know the word Hot Keys)...
4. They're all Idiots...
5. They're all assholes...
6. They dont know the word Strategy
7. All they know is to Fight and Die again...again....and again....

BTW NOT all of them are idiots...the idiots I refer to are the players who flunk college cause of DOTA and those college students at the Computer "Shops" who cant accept they lost to a 14 year old kid...and one more thing...you cant bring back Starcraft back to the Philippines unless the Fuckers here know how to use at least 3% percent of their brains...gawd they're so fucking slow it takes them 3 minutes or more to read(AND UNDERSTAND) 5(or less) Sentences in English...

Let them be stupid, it isn't us who aren't gaining any stratergy skills, which you know are very important in life when making decisions. So playing reg. SC will help us in life, whereas playing DotA they'll probably go get themselves killed than with a mortal would say:
"Where's my god damn respawn!"
I personally think that SC might help business owners because the fact that you have to control more than one unit at a time relates to your business, where you have to control more than 1 person at a time. And all those Korean players that are gosu get hired by big companies for their marketing stratergies, and they get paid lots for it too.

LoL. Last time I was playing with my new friends in College, I beat them at DotA (my team almost lost, actually). Then I suggested a game of SC. They said:

"SC? Well, ok. Let's try it."

Not knowing that I'm an experienced SC player, 3 of them agreed. Once I created in the map "Lost Temple", two of them complained:

"Wtf? This map has so few resources! Only 1500 minerals in each mineral patch! We want to play in Big Game Hunters!"

Then an argument started:

"Lost Temple is the most popular map in B.NET", I said.

"But we don't play in B.NET", they replied.

"Big Game Hunters is for NOOBS! In there, you don't need to expand because the minerals and gas never run out."

"NOOBS, huh? I'm used to strategy games like DotA. And we also had some experience with this game. What makes you think you're any different?"

Then I went silent. I was Terran (my favorite race :D ) It was a Top vs. Bottom game and two of them, including my ally, played as Protoss (the most common beginner's race) and the other one as another Terran. These are the teams===>> SgtHK(Terran) and Protoss Ally VS. Terran and Protoss.

I told them to try to expand so they won't run out of resources.

Pretty soon into the game, they started to see that I'm getting momentum while they, especially the Terran ememy, turtled in their bases and not expanding (I already had 3 expansions). I had Tanks and Goliaths in the center of the map and spider mines scattered around everywhere. I also had 12 Wraiths on standby. One by one, each of them ran out of minerals and gas. So the fuckers, including my Protoss ally, teamed up against me. But, LoL, I still managed to crush all three of them with ease.

I told them: "So... what happened?"

They said: "Ah, c'mon! You were so good and we're just beginners"

I replied: "SC is a fast game that requires brains as well as a large army. You guys just tried to reach the top of the tech tree and tried to mass Carriers and BCs. Oh, well....another round???"

"Maybe next time" they said. And the next day we played SC again, I still pwned them, though.

And SC's popularity is starting to come back up again! NEAT, huh? :D

WarCraft 3 has it's good maps and it's bad maps...

DotA is not one of it's good maps...

I mean WC3 is a strategy game right? Where's the strategy in DotA?
As for graphics, hey I've played both, and I own both, and I'll take StarCraft Graphics over WarCraft 3 any day of the week, they just look better.

I wonder if 5 Years from the release of Starcraft 2. How popular Starcraft 1 is still gonna be...maybe MORE popular...or less....but I HIGLY DOUBT IT that starcraft will be "lost" in my life time...weell maybe when I'm in my 30's. BLizzard made that Ground Breaking decision to "perfect" it and balance it. I mean sure it's 2-D but it doesn't suck. Gameplay is awesome, you are assured that if you pick any race it doesn't assure you a 100% win. Because you have to think of a way to win. There are a lot of strategies out there to be found. So it is safe(for me that is) to say STARCRAFT IS THE KING/GOD(or anything of recognition) OF GAMES. And DOTA...wont even get close....
