Iron Maiden: Heavy Metal Gods?

Iron Maiden is quite possibly my favorite band ever of any genre. They have the credentials of Heavy Metal gods. The members of Iron Maiden were ranked #24 in VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" and in Kerrang! magazine were ranked as the most important band of the last 25 years.The band were ranked fourth on MTV's "Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All Time". Iron Maiden were named the third best metal band of all time on VH1 Classic: Top 20 Metal Bands. Now some people like to assume that because it is Heavy Metal, it can't possibly have any deeper meaning or a positive message at all. Well, this isn't about their official records, I want to hear your opinions. If you've never heard Iron Maiden, I'll post some of their better songs at the bottom. So, whether you praise or detest them, let's hear it.

Iron Maiden : meh.
Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Motorhead (though they aren't completely the same genre.) : not meh.

I've got to be honest with you though, I haven't listented to a lot of IM, so my opionion doesn't really count. :P

Gamma Ray from their Land Of The Free album onwards reign supreme when it comes to metal however.

I don't consider any album past Brave New World metal.

Used to listen to them alot though, it just got a bit boring after that.
In terms of Metal, Metallica is still ok, although I really hated Reload. Megadeth is still playing mostly the same shit they were 18 years ago, except Mustaine is still, not surprisingly, the only original member that remains.
