There is no such thing as a best talent build, actually. What it all boils down to, really, is how you play your warlock character and then build your character's talent tree from the style that you are comfortable with.

Affliction ftw, however. I love it! You can kill 3+ mobs at once.

While I agree with this for the most part, I really have to say the Destruction may very well be the WORST PvE spec for a Warlock. The downtime, while it may not actually bother some, makes it far inferior to both Demonology and Affliction.

I have played both Destruction and Affliction, and while I find both extremely fun to play, Affliction is simply the most efficient way to play. People generally don't like it when I show up at the Elemental Plateau to farm for motes, because I'm downing 3 mobs at a time to their 1. DOT DOT DOT, Fear. Drain Life. GG. Yeah, you can do this to an extent with Destro, but you go ahead and drink that Filtered Dreanei Water while I keep farming :D

Destro is the best PvP specc, imo. Affliction the best leveling and Demo the best... er...

Wow. When you say PvE, do you mean raiding or just grinding?

Affliction and Destro both compete for the top of the meters in Raid settings, depending. And only when you reset on bosses- with Destro it's easily possible to obtain 8k+ incinerate crits (I'm doing Mag tonight, I'll SS if you don't believe me =P), while with Affliction you still hold most of your utility to your raid while doing DPS. Granted, a lot of afflictions damage comes from the subsequent shadowbolt spam, but on things like Gruul DoT's are killers.

Affliction is great for grinding as well though, which is why I personally prefer it.

Yep. If I ever fall below 2nd place on anyone's Damage Meters (They always seem to favor the person using them, for some reason), it's because I was too busy smoking a bowl to keep the DOTs refreshed.

For PvE AND PvP it is merely affliction/demonology all the way.

Whenever I was a 49 I was killing EVERYONE in my path 3on1 PVP in battlegrounds levels 48-49, furthermore I was always the top DPS in instances and whenever I reached 60 (after the expansion) I didn't have the expansion and I was able to kill level 54s specced for PvP, even coming close to killing a 58 warrior with gear from the outlands.

So, if you want to kill ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, go affliction. The only slightest hint of fear you should have is against rogues, I no longer play, but I hear they have free improved sap now. However, with the right pet out (Voidwalker), you shouldn't really fear anything...

As people have said, it's all in how you play. All I know is that with the expansion patch, I was level 52 killing 60s...

I hate being that deep into Affliction and not having UA. That's just me personally.

As for damage meters favoring people, have people in your guild download "Sw Stats". It links with other people with the meter, syncing the damage, providing a more accurate reading.

I've got 970 shadow damage at the moment, and am still missing 5 pieces of gear. A main hand, offhand (which I could get, but am saving the badges), neck, and two trinkets. One of these days =P

With those pieces and that spec, my total damage would be 1263.

Upgrade wise: 29 more from my neck, 42 from a trinket, 36 or so from another trinket, 80 from my weapon, 19 from my offhand. Then 30 more from Imp Fel Armor.

That'll be me when I'm done, only with an extra 15 damage from the lack of gear being updated, and when I max tailoring out it'll add another =P

Just throw Imp Fel Armor in there:

1096 + 15 + 24 + 130 = 1265.

I have heard people say that it is, however I'm still a tad unconvinced. Affliction is damn useful, however if you're going to stay at 19 it'll lack some of the DoTs that it requires to completely own entire WSG teams, so Destruction is probably your best bet.

As far as pve goes, there isnt a best, each build has a nice set for pve.
For grinding, i'd say a good affliction build, something along the lines of 40/x/x
as you dont need UA. Demonology and destruction would benefit more in a raid setting than affliction, burst damage > DoTs that dont finish. Just my 2c

I have a hunter and Warlocks are very comparble imo, Demo = BM, Destro = Marks and Afflic, well....comes no where close to Survival. But anyway. Demon is probally gonna be the way to go for Lvling just cause you can kill things extremly fast, Afliction is good for both PvE and PvP but just takes a little time. ANd Destruction...well...if 7k incenerates don sound good to you ur picky...lol
