Yes yes. This game is awesome, lets bring some life back into it!

I entered b.net earlier today and the WC2 channels were empty... duh. But I've been thinking, we could organize game nights, right?

RIGHT?

All you need, is a CD of WC2:BNE (as a Warboards member, this is an item that you're supposed to naturally have) and 2-3 hours of free time.

Let's do it!

Day would be Friday night - that's one day before Blizzard's release of teh new game. This would be a nice combination of nostalgia and expectations ey?
Anyway, lets get to the point - if you got WC2:BNE, and you're interested in wtfpwning some Warboards members on a decent game from '95, post here and I'll add you to the list.

Note: When on Friday? Anytime. Log onto the Warboards IRC channel and talk to people OMG YES, ask them if they have WC2 (hopefully you'd know beforehand through this thread) and go online and play.
FUN ^____^
Post here that you'd come even if you're not sure, so that the list will be bigger and more people will be drawn in XD
I'm serious, get in, this will be teh FUN ^____^

Also, Ogres ftw.

Supportalist:

* Kong
* Toonami
* Darmago
* Modred
* Uber
* Darkslayer

* Jeff

Make sure you show up on IRC! Infact, start showing up now already, so that we can start taking practice matches against each other :>

I probably should get WC2, just for the sake of 'having it' and that it only costs ~ $20.

The main problem is that it (apparently) doesn't work on Windows XP, and certainly not Vista (which is the computer in my bedroom).

"doesn't work on Windows XP"? Rubbish. It runs super-smooth on my Windows XP; if anything, the performance is much increased from the ol' 95 days.

Works on Vista just fine.

I have WCII... oh gosh, it isn't good at all.

The heroes are absolute crap. Each one of their spells (if they're a spell caster) takes about 60% of their mana and their mana regenerates SO slowly. The gameplay is slow and frustrating.

Then again, I've always been the WORST RTS player EVER

Warboards should have its own server. It'll be much more funner and everyone can see everyone, since they're concentrated in a much smaller place.

Then almost everyday could be a Warboards online day.

Friends don't let friends play WC2.

This idea intrigues me

I'm in. WC2 is the one game where I could actually beat my friends. Probably because there isn't enough diversity to need more advanced strats like in SC.

Wow ~ maybe I should buy it then.

But why isn't it on this list? (http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/Windows_Vista_Software_Compatibility_List#Games)

I'm a Warcraft 2 FREAK. Count me in and prepare to get your asses hand to you.

It's probably the best RTS ever, and it takes SC down hands down. Sure, strategy isn't that great, but the speed is unmatched. Each game last 4-10 minutes, and it's pure fun.

I'll be there, fo' shizzle.

I have WC2 BNE and can play Friday evening. Remind me on IRC if I forget.

That's probably why I did so well against my friend. He had played a lot of SC and tried to tech up a little before attacking...I went straight for the footmen and a transport (island map). Needless to say, he wasn't happy. So he started building farms all over the map, and when I found the last one he pulled his internet connection from the wall. Poor sport.

I have WC2 :D But a big problem...My latency is either too high, or when I join a game it causes lag for EVERYONE.

I have Cable--So why is it doing this?

Aqo
05-14-2007, 12:59 PM
There's a bug that causes WC2 to lag on US West. Try logging onto Europe.

Protosschick99

I've also tried US East--So don't go there either?

Modred

I never had a problem on US East, but that was a few years ago. I'm assuming there's been a patch since then...

We need MORE!

I've played some WC2 games recently and they were uber fun. It's amazing to see what things people have come up with for that game.

I wish I could support you guys. But my WarCraft II is a real nerve-picker because it had a virus in it. I threw it away long long ago. :o

Yeah... it's probably in the Galaxy Far Far Away by now...

Other News: I found my Starcraft:BW again! :D

When will people realize that games are not distributed with viruses unless something goes horribly wrong. 99.9% of the time the virus was already on your computer or exploited a vulnerability in your computer, but did not come with the game. I ran War2BNE for years without a single virus infection.

If you hadn't thrown it away, I'd suggest you try reinstalling it after cleaning up your computer.

If he bought it illegitimately, it could easily have a virus in it. Although in that case, he probably couldn't access Battle.net anyway.

I bought an illegitimate copy of Civilisation: Test of Time once from Singapore, and my Virus Program came up when I put it in the CD drive.

That might not be entirely true. One of my (original) Red Alert CD's accused a virus in it, according to my ol' McAfee Anti-Virus. Since it was an original CD, I trusted it and installed the game anyway. That old home PC of mine (now my dad's) still works and without a hitch. Conclusion? Most likely it was a false positive. ;)

That still doesn't support that the malware was on the CD, but rather that McAfee is the P.O.S. I've always thought it was. Seriously. If they have to tell me it's "Protection you can trust" every single time the program starts, I start to get suspicious.

Now you've got me wanting to scan my RA1 CDs... =p
