So the British military uses a network of satellites called Skynet to handle their communications in the field. The most recent upgrade greatly increases their bandwidth, making the system much more powerful. In addition, Skynet is maintained by a private corporation, but extensively used by the military. How much longer until they make it sentient?
Of course, this project has been going on since 1969 and the company isn't called Cyberdyne, but the coincidence still caught my eye.

Nice find.. very nice.. though making a computer sentient is very hard, and i severly doubt if the military command is stupid enough to let a untested sentient being run their affairs.
I've said it before, I'll say it again:
On noez! Teh Grey Goo!
TEH GHREY GHOOOOO!

What's the grey goo?
I wouldn't mind a bit of sentient machinery trying to take over my city. I would prefer zombies, but I need a little action in my life.
:P

While not strictly grey goo, I always talk about grey goo whenever stuff like this crops up.

Prolly. Or it googles the entire Net and adds everything it finds on Wikipedia.

Think of the porn articles...
Anyways, I thought Gray Goo was something in Dragonlance...sort of like a sentient goo that repaired itself...heh, just like the real thing.
It is, it's the idea of self-replicating nano-technology going haywire, long story short.
Michael Crichton wrote a book about it, 'Prey.' Unfortunately, I've not gotten around to reading it yet.

Ya know I noticed this a few weeks ago.
For United Airlines, there is a section in my application where they explained about SkyNet.
I guess United Airlines uses SkyNet for all their communication and television/radio stuff for the airplane.
I was like, "Omgosh! TERMINAT0RZ!!!!!" lolz :P
