I'm trying to record a song for a map I'm making, but my microphone doesn't give me very high quality sound. I've looked around for other programs but most either don't work, or only let me record for a minute unless I BUY it. The song I want is the 1st song from this movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YrYvj3HZ1I
Anyone have either the file, a place I can find it, or a program I can use to record directly off the video?
My standard Sound Recorder USED to do this perfectly, but some sort of update or whatever has prevented it from doing so any longer.

1. Get the song name and find it, then convert it to .wav and put it in your map.
2. Download the youtube video (for example unplug extension for FF or numerous websites' scripts) then convert it to .wav and crop the part you need; you can do this with SUPER Video Converter (google it)
You'll be loosing quality both ways but the first one is better.

I have a program called 'Audacity' for recording.. it's freeware, and it has a LOT of functions.

You don't need a Mic to record stuff if your using Windows Sound Recorder. It can record stuff straight from your computer.
In Sound Recorder go to >> Edit >> Audio Properties >> [Sound Playback] Volume >> Options >> Properties >> Recording >> check Mono Mix, adjust the volume for Mono mix and Wave so its not too high.
Before you actually record the music, press the record button in Sound Recorder, wait for a minute, save the file [1 min.wav] >> Edit >> Insert File [1 min.wav] until it reaches like 3 times or what not. Then put the slider back to the beginning, then, actually record the music.

But that's just me. ;\

Audacity is a really good free sound recording program that has some pretty advanced features. You could also do what SuiCidAl has suggested, I used to do that back in the day before I found Audacity =P
