A whisper, a smile, a flutter of eyelashes, a shift of clothing, a crease,
The galaxy is so filled with guilt and regret. The universal sign for peace,
I’ll try to remember it, as we glide back the way we came, through the open door,
Back to when we were still strangers, before I had concluded that you were a whore,
I’ll place my fingers in my ears, strain as hard as I can, hope for the best,
The boys resist, but you’re something else, I miss the lift of your chest,
There goes Iron Jack, he glowers at us, wishing he’d had a soul,
But then again, I’m heartless, like you said, made of steel and coal
But let’s assume we’d had never met, let’s assume the world still did rotate,
The almighty one still loved us, found something new to create,
I'll step outside myself, paint a picture of the man you maimed

Cold and dispassionate, full of hope and glory, broken hearts and fears,

The frozen eyes and glassed over smiles,
Of play writes, their psalms stretching a thousand miles,
Unknown ounces of coffee drained through the night,
Sanity's gimlet and ambivalent plight,
Cries symphonies and anthems hoping for tear,
They'll wait seconds, months, for a thousand years.
