If I wanted to make a bot that would employ the cookie cutter strats from the melee portion of the game, would that be difficult? I was thinking of starting out very basic by employing specific creep patterns for the AI to use (AoW creep of the lab in TS for ne would be an idea) then learning to counter that specific situation. I wouldn't be smart enough to create an ai that could adapt to the situation.
If that is too difficult in general to do (i'm bored and willing to commit about 30 min to an hour a day. I also learn fairly quick.) do you know of a custom game, or a "bot" that simulates this already?

I'm so bad in that, time for Sid or edwinfong25 to do the thing...
Bot? U mean the Computer player right? The computer that you set at the map initialization? Well, I think that's been made... Check out AMAI, dude.
That or you could tinker around with the WE's AI Editor and try to make one *.wai file that fits for all occasions... although that seems very difficult to pull successfully. :concern:

What's the url for AMAI? I'm interested as well.

Holy shit. It's not bad. It's really not. I think I'm going to post on it in the forum for anyone interested in working on their macro game.

Well, there are some building placement issues and some micro choices the comp does on normal that I don't agree with, but I haven't tried insane to see if it's a true "insane bot" that collects ungodly resources or if it's just a better AI without the resource advantage.
The macromanagement and response time is better. The comp doesn't scout or wait to see your army to start producing countering units, so it can be challenging for you to scout the opponent to actually see what they're making. It is somewhat predictable if you know what counters what, but it's a good exercise for learning it. All in all, it's so much better than the regular Blizzard AI. This bot goes for Tavern heroes, Tower rushes as an Orc player, and even tries to talk shit during the game. The best part, though, is the bot quits when it loses and doesn't wait for you to finish off all buildings. Once you've killed the whole army or gained a significant advantage over the opponent, the game is over. The downside is, you won't see many late games with huge comebacks like you will against human opponents that are more stubborn.
The best part, I think, is that the comp doesn't just camp its base the whole game. It stays busy for the most part. As I test it out more, I'll post more about it. It's a good way for me to ease myself back into the saddle after 6 months of inactivity in War3.

Proz, it looks like you want the bot for the same reason I do. I said it before, but this post is far more comprehensive. Thank you for the review, and plus rep for you because of the detail.
