View Full Version : Browsing trouble
I'm having trouble browsing in various sites, including Warboards and Gmail. For Warboards, when I log in, it never redirects me to the home page automatically and I have to click the redirect link for it to do so. Also, in gmail, it automatically shifts to basic HTML view and refuses to shift to standard view. I'm using default IE, and I recently formatted my computer when the problem suddenly started. Before, an Antivirus I had was preventing me from doing [i]any[\i] browsing at all, so I removed it and installed Mcaffe instead.
edit: And i cant access the wb menu bar either.

Have you patched it all back up yet?

It sounds like the browser itself isn't parsing higher-level code properly.
You might want to try installing different (recent version) browsing software, to see if that alleviates the problem.
It could very well be that IE is missing patches and such, but that seems a little beyond the scope of Windows Updates, and IE would have to be really outdated. I think. I'm not entirely up-to-date on coding practices and browser compatibility.
MTank, it seems to me that, apart previous suggestions, the problem might be in it's security settings (inside the "internet options" panel) getting too high and thus preventing any form of scritping and cookie stashing on your PC. I recall the WB's bar to need image allowance from other Org site (img.orgnetwork.com) and the same went for rest of the images used in the site, like buttons and such. And if not mistaken it also required a minimal form of Java script from this site as well.
Anyway, you should take a long peek over there and customize IE to your liking (without bluntly allowing all crap to enter, of course).
Provided I don't open IE to browse for almost 3 years now, pardon the lack of details regarding this matter. When I need it, I simply use the IE Tab extension from within FF. And that mostly to check upon MS sites, which usually try to force feed their site coding crap upon us. :P

although I may be biased...
have a try of Firefox ^_^
Ive set my IE security settings on low, but that didnt help. It doesn't seem to be running Javascript either. I'll try an update and get back.
Allright, i tried to dl IE7, but i got a "you are not authorised to view this page'' message. Same thing happens when i try to dl adobe reader, any spyware program, and a number of other programs.
uhh, get Foxit Reader to open PDFs.
Two; Turn Javascript back on for IE.
Or, run some scans for spyware and such.

Erm.. no one mentioned installing Java Runtimes?
Format = No JRE = No fancy gmail, no wb menu.

The WB menu at least is JavaScript, which has nothing to do with Java or the JRE.
If it were a function requiring the JRE, there would be in-browser notices about applets not starting and probably a big ugly Java logo somewhere to boot.
you don't need JRE to run javascript...

I'll save me from stating the obvious for the 3rd time... and simply point to the exact couple of posts above mine. ;)
As a side note, maybe you've accidentally blocked those two sites to run Java scripts on IE. Try to reverse it after checking to see if that happened.
