I have a laptop that has these Specs:
Pentium II 366mhz
128mb RAM
2.5mb Graphics card
Do you know any strategy games that will fit these specs?

Wow that goes back a bit, I use to play Dune on a 386.
Thought it was just out right amazing graphics at the time, of corse I now know to what incredible degree they sucked. But at the time.........

There's always Abandonia (http://www.abandonia.com/index2.php)... and the rest of the 'intarweb' for that matter. :P

Yeah. they look good.

They don't just look good, they play good :P

If you have a DVD drive, get The First Decade, you should be able to run most of the games that aren't Generals (and, tbh, Generals isn't really much to write home about, when compared to the old games, IMO)

hmm could Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun be able to run on your computer?

Single-player's kinda boring, but Multi-player is where it's at, especially considering how old it is.

Don't know the system requirements, but they can't be much past that. Age of Empires / The Rise of Rome are definitely not to be missed. I still play both of those games as well as Age of Kings on my "real deal" PC regularly.

Darmago, great post there...

For those who still want to know if the game will run on your PC (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srl). I think it's fairly accurate. ;)

And Shorty', voilá the answer to your prayers (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=23330&highlight=hide+text). The inborn search feature (http://www.warboards.org/search.php?) at work. :P

I don't exactly know, but AOE2 is in 3d and is based in the medieval era... I think...

Ktan

Not really 3d, it still uses sprites, but medieval era is about right. It probably 'ends' just before the Battle of Bosworth in 1485 which is, at least as far as Britain is concerned, the end of the Middle Ages.

As far as technology goes, Age of Kings pretty much ends at gunpowder. It's available to many in-game civilizations, and I don't believe anyone has a unit or technology that is "more advanced".

Much better time setting than Age of Empires III, in my opinion. I have both and play Age of Kings: The Conquerors more in an average couple of weeks than I played AOEIII total.

AOE 2 should work.

If you go to abandonia I strongly suggest that you get master of Orion, Master of Magic, Colonization and Ascendancy. They're some of the best.

You could also try Caesar 3/2 or Sid Meier's Gettysburg.

Sid Meier's Civilization and Alpha Centauri. I was addicted to AC and it's expansion for a couple years. I played Civilization for like a day (somehow it found it's way onto a disc I found in the attic), I didn't get it, so I played AC again.

I already got Ascendancy, but the problem is that doesn't want to run on my screen (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=25963&highlight=Ascendancy). Part of the control bars at the bottom vanish no matter what. :P

Ditch XP and use Dosbox. No matter how compatible a game is with XP it will run better on DosBox. Plus the ability to increase processor cycles reduces click lag.

Alpha Centauri. I was addicted to AC and it's expansion for a couple years.

You put me to shame with forgeting AC. I still have it installed somewhere on my HD :) I find it way better then Civ 2.

hmm, how about Heroes of Might and Magic 3! that game is awesome!

I dunno if anyone suggested Total Annihilation yet, and if you can play it.

It's nice, the battle music of it rocks. And you can nuke the entire map flat, and build a huge motahfucking turret that kills all balance in the game.

Warcraft I: Orcs and Humans...

Played it again the other day (the earlier time was a decade ago or so) and got those awkward feeling about it. For one recalled the time when played it with a friend taking turns but on the other hand now I don't quite like it nowadays, especially when compared to it's closest sequel (WC2-BtDP).

Disciples II, a turn based strategy released in 2003.

Any game over 2 years old is ancient to me.

Or perhaps the first Disciples, released in 1997.
