I'm getting lycos sidesearch whenever i enter the WB url. I can get here from a link, but not directly from the address bar (this just started today). Do i have lycos spyware or is there a mistake? I think its the first, because i saw a lycos icon on my desktop, and i nevernevernever download search engine stuff except from google and sometimes yahoo. Ugh.
*goes to adaware*
I also went to the directory, its apparently in my Interenet Explorer program files folder. Will ad aware rid me of it, because it doesn't label itself in the folder, hidden as a number apparently.

SpyBot: Search and Destroy will if Ad-Aware doesn't.
That's definitely seems like one of those things that can be killed with one of those programs.

As long as you keep the Adaware definitions up to date, I tend to find it's my preferred anti-spyware program. It should catch this, hopefully.

Spybot finds prefix changes in the registry casues by spyware, which may be what your problem is. I don't think adaware knows to find this specific problem, but I know adaware also check the registry.
Anyways, use both programs, you'll be good for about half an hour of surfing. :p

Adaware mostly killed it. It was so annoying, it popped up at almost every page i visited. Gone now. Thanks for the advice, adaware is a godsend.

...Whenever I update my Adaware 6.0 it gives me more spyware T_T.

Hahaha, that seems to be a bit backwards Darkeggy ^_^.
Anyway, I've become a serious fan of Hijackthis. If you kind of know what you're doing, you can get rid of any spyware and adware in a few seconds ^_^. Joy :o.

Spybot Search & Destroy is probably the best anti-spyware/adware program out there. It detects just about everything, and it even installs a plugin for IE that prevents spyware from installing in the first place.
Perhaps, but Spyware BLaster (Free) is a more definitive prevententive spyware/adware/hijackware program (GET IT!)
Spybot is good for the simple things, but its not ben updated in awhile... And AdAware (From lavasoft... no where else or download.com/cnet) is also great.
But for "power users" (lol?) Hijack THis! Is the best. THat or if you have people you can post the log to and go trhough it for you (Exedore does this, and I do to... just not as purty as exedore :P)

I use a popup blocker that even stops most of those "Do you want to install" dialogues, but if what you speak of is something different, do tell. I have Spybot, but I have never seen anything about a plugin.
