Terran Shielding

Thinking on the balance issues of the currently nonexistent SCII, what are your thoughts about Terrans attaining sheilds on larger units? As with a lot of games, once two races get their heads together, they tend to share ideas and technology. So, what do you think the Terrans and Protoss will do? I personally think that in order to defeat Kerrigan and her many thousands of minions, they must work together, so the Terrans will get shields in some way, shape or form. Also, Terrans have always been an adaptive bunch, so wouldn't it be natural for a bunch of nerdy Terran Scientists to have a convention in some underground base somewhere?
Yes, I know that this would kill the balance of SCII, but naturally, if we throw balance ot the wind and make this a huge game of The Sims, Terrans would develop shielding, no?
However, if shields are indeed fitted on Terran units, they would only be on the larger ones, assuming that SCII picks up 1-2 years after the Brood War. Certainly not a great balance topic, but just something to think on.

hmm, if Terrans had sheilds... could the Zerg grow thicker carapaces?

Nah, I always figured that since the overmind had already mutated all the zerg units to exactly where he wanted them, they must already be as powerful as they could get. The zerg'll have to assimilate new organisms to aquire more abilities, such as the ability to survive in a vacuum after overlords (their core genus, anyway) came to zerus. So as long as we aren't talking gameplay wise, the current zerg units probably won't get much better in a couple of years.

yeah well if the terrans did get sheilding the zerg would have to get a pretty serious new ability or else it would be pretty unbalanced and as mr. masterofhobbito said they would have to gain some serious new units

I also doubt that the terrans and protoss would trade technologies, the Terrans are too corrupt and power hungry to give races that could pose a threat to them new abilities; they're more the type to sign a treaty while they have nukes and yamatoes aimed at the diplomatic Protoss ships. It is possible that the terrans could aquire the 'toss technology through Raynor or another friend of the 'toss; the conclave can no longer regulate the scattered tribes (they're dead).

ok MoH, i guess but it would be pretty cool if they did trade techs and you could see a hybrid of terran and protoss. well not really hybrid but a joined force.
