View Full Version : The StarCraft: Ghost Love Affair

I'm just curious... does anyone expect there to be some sort of love story weaved into Ghost? Perhaps something similar to Kerrigan and Raynor... it was there, but somewhat "unofficial".
Also, do you actually want a love story? Do you think it will detract from the game too much, or perhaps you believe it would enhance the storyline. As any english essay would state: give reasons for your answers. ;)
Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a bit of one; as long as it's subtle like the Kerrigan/Raynor one, and doesn't dominate the game. Perhaps Nova's got a male Ghost that she likes to go out with?
Hmm... damn Ghosts would have it easy... no second-guessing whether the other person was actually interested in you or not... but I lose focus... get discussing :)

Hmmm.. That's a good question. If it was an RTS Game, I would imagine it being ok. But since it's a 1st person shooter.. Wait, 3rd person shooter? Anyways, since it's that type of game, I think it would be sort of strange to have a love story involved in it. I guess, it would be interesting though, and overall, I wouldn't mind it.
Blizzard has a knack for making excellent games, and I'm sure that if they do a love story type thing, they'll make it perfect.

I guess a little love interlude would make the game interesting, but if it was too much i would start not liking it very quickly. I think it would be best for it to be, like you said, subtle, or maybe a cooperation (like what they did in Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness).

A little bit of a love story could be good to the game. As long as it doesn't get too much, though. And as long as it doesn't disgrace the story-line.

Yeah, i agree, it would be odd to have a love affair in a first or third person shooter.

I think it is a 3rd person shooter.

Ghosts probably aren't supposed to fall in love or have any real connections with others. They're supposed to be highly independant operatives who have but one goal in mind at all times - to get the job done.
If Nova had some love affair I'd have a hard time believing it since it'd have been counter to the 20 years they say she spent training. She was raised not to love and not to feel emotions like that - plus, if Terran scientists can install aggression inhibitors and psionic dampeners, what makes you think they'd let such dangerous emotions as love free reign over the brain?
In short: no.

LOL, anyway back on topic ;).
I think they could pull it off I mean look at Kerrigan And Raynor, I mean sure, they didn't say anything, but it was there. It also shows this in BW when they help each other ;).

Someone raised the point about Ghosts being trained not to love... I'm just wondering how they account for Kerrigan, who was totally starting to get with Raynor before she was infested... ?

I don't consider Kerrigan a "true" ghost. Her past is most likely extremely checkered and her time with Mengsk obviously is going to slowly counter whatever training she had since things were more relaxed in that setting. It's pretty obvious that her "upbringing," so-to-speak, deviates from your traditional ghost.

Dosn't Nova already love? Haven't you seen the way she looks at me?
Aside from that I don't think Bilzzard gave Nova any other romantic side, however I wouldn't mind if they did solong as it was subtle and didn't dominate hte story line as ohters said.

If they did put in a love story it would crush all those little pimply-faced teenagers who are eager for the game to come out, it would dramatically hurt sales.

hey, dont knock dream worlds......
abandon the search for truth-settle for a good fantasy
reality is a nice place to visit but i would'nt want to live there

MGS pulled it off pretty solidly. And by that, I mean that I did not turn off the console.
But if Kerrigan was able to have feelings for Raynor, Nova should be able to experience the same thing. But who knows. It's hard to write a love story into a shooter.

I thought of a way to incorperate it ;).
She's known another ghost from her birth and they grew up together, they fight in a group, there are other female ghosts etc. Anyway, that would be a way to attempt it, like they love each other even though they shouldn't. I don't know, kinda like Romeo and Juliet ;).

The greatest Blizzard love story so far is the one between Furion and Tyranda; and even that one's shaky because the NE women are so lesbians.
Like, totally, Carny.
For my money, it's Kerrigan-Raynor, merely because they never actually came out and said anything about it.
