Hey. Im really new into modding and I want to get better of course. The problem is that when i drag the folder i want to turn into MPQ to the MPQ Compactor, a notepad is opened

I downloaded all required files too. Is there a way to fix that?
Edit: Oh and also, i followed all steps in my first mod tutorial in starcraft.org. And ive already opened WinMPQ.

Please?
My guess is that you don't it's folder inside the WinMPQ app. I recall for sure that it had to be inside a SC-BW program, just ain't sure which. But you don't need it anyway, since you can do the same that MPQ Compactor does with WinMPQ or so I believe. ;)
And welcome on board, 'Pato. :) Feel free to wander around to see if you encounter any other threads or areas that interest you.
Tiny side note: And you don't have to bump a thread when no one replied in a matter of hours. When we know, we usually answer but it may not be in the snappy time you'd like, so... bear with it patience.

I don't have a solution to your problem, but i have a reccomendation.
Don't use MPQ Compacter. Use Datedit to create the MPQ (with the DAT files in it) and WinMPQ for adding some other files to it (such as GRP and TBl files). MPQ Compacter makes you put all those files in folders, which can get annoying at times. Why not just type the folder name instead?

An alternate way (which I use and is probably the best way to do things once firegraft comes out) is to create your folder and directories just like you would if you were going to use them mpq compactor. Then open Winmpq, create a new mpq archive, open it and drag and drop your folder directory into the file list window. You'll see a box asking for a file path. Just click "ok" (don't type in anything) and within seconds you'll have a fully compacted mpq.
I do it U-238 style. Create the folder directories (plus files) mimicking the SC-BW *.mpq archives storage system and then simply drag'em onto the WinMPQ. After it's creation is verified I simply delete the origin files. ;)
After it's creation is verified I simply delete the origin files.
O.O
I don't usually do that until I'm done with the mod. (thus saving the thrill of recreating the files all over again.)
I said that assuming that the job is already done. And it isn't too hard to extract those back from the *.mpq again, if needs be.
