GRP help

wel i need some SC sprites and i decide to use grp to get them,well i got Lurk spike. but then i got to scdat to get the others and it all says unkown\unkown the some numbers. please help.

and is there a way to get the spells there right colors.

I think that matters with the right pallete for the spells.

And for the unknows, do you have the listfile?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "getting the spells their right colors". If you mean changing the colors of the spells simply open up the bmps in any advanced image editing program (gimp, photoshop, etc) and convert them to RGB. You can the play around with the RGB curves and acheive all sorts of interesting colors.

okay then wat do i do with this file? i cant just find the name and the count down the list becuse there is BW and SC on the list. and that would take forever


and wat i mean about the color ,in grp there like blue becomes purple or yellowish color. so does most other spell's colors.

WinMPQ>Options>Filelists>load the txt file I gave you.

To be honest I've never changed an existing spell. I've always just made new ones. If Aqotrooper ever comes around again he'd probably know. (That or maybe raidmax)

Depends on what you want to do, do you want to modify the sprite? or change it completly?

I warn you modifying the SC special pallete is very hard. But, if you dont want to go through the special pallete, do the following only for those odd discolored things to make them easy to edit.

1. Go to images.dat in dat edit, then find mind control, or whatever you want.
2. It should say special, and under that a drop down list. (if you want to change the color of it, just select the color you want then your done.)

3. Select Default from the list, and save it into your mod.

Now, what that just did, was make SC ignore the special pallete, and just show those odd colors you see in that picture in-game. Obviously, your going to want to edit the GRP file to have real looking colors, so open it up with your editing software.

You can play around with the colors, until you get it what you want, or make the whole thing look different. Just remember, after doing this, what you see in your retro GRP, will be what is shown in-game.

I hope that cleared up the color thing.

HyperDemonic, I also advise ya to get the WinMPQ reference list file from here (http://zezula.net/download/listfiles.zip) instead. It has less unkowns for all SC-BW files, since the "StarDat.mpq" to the install/setup ones in the CD's. ;)

Info note: Not that UED77 one is worse but it hasn't been updated in a while and this one has.

*OFFTOPIC*dude i think you just answer my problem for a year ago,lol. my game did have mess up colors, but idk if i change the image.dat thought.
