This was first revealed by the good people at DiabloII.net. In Act III there is a secret message by Natalya that was removed from the game but is still accessible to those who have Battle.net access. What you have to do is beat act three and then join a game where someone has access to Act 3, but has not beaten it. Talk to Natalya about the final quest to hear a speech you normally couldn't hear because Natalya disappears after you beat Act 3 (except in this case.)
Dirk Diggler?
The unique Dirk in Diablo 2 is named the "Diggler", there was a film made where the main character was a Porn Star named Dirk Diggler
Lord de Seis, Shenk the Overseer, Halls of Vaught
I found this while reading the credits one day. Lord de Seis, one of the bosses in Diablo's Chaos Sanctuary was named after Rick Seis, the lead programmer.
Shenk the Overseer (expansion) in the Bloody Foothills of Act 5, is named after Phil Shenk, a character artist.
The Halls of Vaught (expansion), Act 5 was named after Fred Vaught, a background artist.
Uber Diablo
There is a secret boss called "Uber Diablo" in the game that is unleashed on a random level in Closed Battle.NET
When a certain number of 'Stone of Jordan' (SOJ) rings are sold to merchants (NPC traders like Charsi, Drognan, etc) the message "Diablo Walks the Earth" can be seen at the top of the screen on the level that contains uber diablo. If this happens in your level, go out to where the nearest super-unique enemy (like Pindleskin or Rakanishu) is and instead of it, you will find Uber-Diablo (also known as DiabloClone, DC or AnhilusBoy).
Uber Diablo is extremely hard to kill, but the reward is huge; he drops a charm called the "Annihilus Charm", which looks like a small blue shard. You can only have one of these per character. The stats of this item are:
+1 To All Skills
+10-20 To All Attributes (varies)
All Resistances +10-20 (varies)
+5-10% To Experience Gained (varies)
Which is awesome, to say it's a small charm (one block of space).

You need these things to activate the Cow Level
1. Beaten game
2. "Horadric Cube"
3. "Wirts Leg"
4. "Tome of Town Portal"
Then do the following.
1. Go to the Rouge Encampment
2. Open the "Horadric Cube"
3. Put "Wirts Leg" and "Tome of Town Portal" in the "Horadric Cube"
4. Clic on "Tranmute"
The stuff dissapear and a RED portal is standing in the Encampment.
It leads to "The Secret Cow Level"
