The Strange World of Diablo

In this thread, you will post strange things that happened to you or you have heard of in Diablo 2.

Heres on thing that happened to me today:
I usually do a cheap thing of Count Running and Andy runs on another persons game because of the chances of them having better internet service than me are high. And if there is better internet service from a host, it means i won't have a one or two second lag when i assign a action on my 56k modem. So i joined this level 10 barbs game, but i ignored his party request. I promptly decided to go for a Count run to get some runes, and hopefully alch some of my lower ones. But this guy beat me to it, so i go for my last choice of a Andy Run.

I stop by the rouge encampment, My stash is full of runes and gems, so i drop some uniques (or rares. This guy said that Yellow or the Gold color were rare items, but i don't have a clue expect that i know the items aren't useful for me) on the ground for him to have. Of course he ignores to pick them up.

Once i get there, i start demolishing this Maiden of Anguish before she can even say "You want fries with that?" Then after 10 consecutive seconds of holding down the mouse button i noticed that only my character was moving but nothing else was happening. All the monsters were frozen, the poison i had in my health wasn't effecting me, and my mana levels stayed the same. Just then i realized that I was lagging, so i ran around to Andy and then everything went back to normal. However at that moment, i got a One hit KO from all the unprocessed information so i had go all the way back and get some sweet revenge.

lagg like that happens to me all the time, it really pisses you off if it does it alot.

Azn the way that Diablo II games work on Battle.net is that they are hosted on the Bnet servers themselves -- unlike Starcraft and Warcraft III where someone else is the "host"

Therefore you can create games by yourself just fine without worrying about your Dial Up service -- I used to play d2 with dial up all the time just fine, except for teleporting rapidly, everything went ok.

Though the realms do lag sometimes, it can be a pain.

Also, it is pretty rude to go into a persons game -- especially when they are low leveled, or in act1 themselves, and then kill the countess or andy. It means they can't get those quests, which is alright I suppose, but still awfully rude.

Not really a thing that happened in a game of D2, but a thing that happened in the public channel one.

Me and some other people from SC and WC played this game were a guy named Scrin_Legion made a "The Ring" related RPG game where you can just join and do random things. I became a guy that kept on losing his pants to the weird Emo girl from The Ring, and i saved the Twin Towers by inflated my FatBarbarian character to form a cushion for the plane. Then Scrin became the Us president and i worked at a KFC. A zombie breakout happens and then i get infected and attack Scrin.

Then the people that were part of it left, and a weird girl that spams the Channel made a bunch of accounts just to bother him. Turns out they had a long history of Scrin booting her off of every channel that he was a op of. Its funny because she had to make four accounts to bother him, and she got squelched every time. I eventually became the middle man for this girl to talk to Scrin with.

once, i was just rying to play, u know, lvling up, etc. Then, a Paladin who's waaay higher than me enters, expressess hostility to me, and kills me, taking my money. Seriously, you should have to agree to hostility for sum1 to fight you. He reduced my 150000 gold to 32000 in aboout 5 minutes. that bastard.
if u see him, please kill him. It was on U.S. west and his name was sumthing like "road-kill killer".

I was in a Trading post map, and these people kept on wanting me to join there party for no reason. Then a level 80 Sorc turned hostility on me and kept on killing characters 50 levels below her.

Its a trading post, you trade with other people. You don't do runs or duels on that map.

Yellow text items are rares: they can have up to 6 ranodm magical properties- So you will never know what you are going to get.

Gold items are unique: they always have give the same bonuses, but the values may vary depending on the uniqie.

For example-
The Gnasher:
+60-70% Enhanced Damage**
20% Chance of Crushing Blow
50% Chance of Open Wounds
+8 To Strength

**this will always have the mod +X% enhanced dmg, but its value is variable

Yes indeed that is sexy server lag there. Blame battle.net!!! I've been bamboozled like 1000 times by that. Just be glad your game didnt drop :/

I was lvling my barb and i came across this random cluster of Haw nests or w/e they are. I was baffled when i saw that they were "minions" then I found the culprit. I've never seen a unique spawner or w/e and have not encouneted this again. I took a screenshot right when my thundergods kicked in, so you can see the fohness too!

Thats a pretty cool incident Wimz, sorta reminds me when the computer spawns monsters behind walls that you can't get behind. That happened to me once when i saw light radius within a wall, and at a certain position i could see skeletons inside of the wall. Strangely enough, there wasn't a secret door that led to those monsters within the wall.

I've seen unique spawners like that before. It seems really strange but they are a monster just like any other, so it is possible.

Another network error happened while i was doing a Big D run with a friend and a random druid.

I timed the lag, it lasted five minutes long. I finally lost connection to B.Net after i went to the bathroom.

Oooh, 'Block party' is on the radio. I still can't figure out whats the ethnicity of the lead singer is. I know he's african american, but i'm not sure what kind of accent that is.
