Age Of Evolution
1.0c Public Beta Release

Welcome to Age of Evolution. This is my first mod and has been in production since summer.
Heres the sketch:
The story isnt really done, im planning on making a capaign, however im a lazy mapper and an even lazier modder. Its a wonder i got this far.

Anyway:
Whats changed?
Everything. Iscript, GRP, Dat, Tbl, if theres an editor for it ive screwed with it in some way.

Whats the mod's concept, its balancing?
The mod is build on the principle of the tech tree meaning more. Later units are to own more and early units are to be less-useless late game. In other words it makes unit combos, like Hydra/Devs a great way to turn your enemys into nothing more than a memory.

Is it grafted?
You bet your ass.
With DoA's private FireGraft for 1.14. Currently i cant hand it out to anyone, and a new more public release is up coming some time in the future if finished before 1.15. I cant say any more than that.

Please please please post my friend! Id love to hear whats wrong with it. What bugs or imbalances you encountered. Nothing would make me happier than to make you shut up with pure godly modness rather than a post full of flame.


Please post all your comments and such. Im open to new ideas, suggestions, and anything else.

Looks very interesting. It's always fun to see what new concepts people come up with when meshing the buildings into new ones. :)

I'll be looking forward to its completion. I myself will be making an annoucment on my own mod here in the comming month.

the thing i see that i dun like is some of the buildings (such as the new stargate) look kind of mismatched. a frankenstein's monster, if you will.

Thats due to the over lays being put in by SC. I dont know how to remove them. Something to do with the Iscript and/or LO? files.

To take out an overlay you can do this.

Find out the images.dat entry of the overlay then go into the iscript and find the entry reference and take it out.

Well, I never really was that into heavy GRP changes, so to me, those models look somewhat strange (especially when you haven't changed the corresponding overlays/underlays. This is especially noticeable on your Archon and comsat).

Also, I didn't really notice any innovate iscripting (i.e. something that had me wondering how you did it, or that was sufficiently impressive to make me think "oh, neat!"). Many of the weapon effects are re-used, and some are simple re-colorations of existing animations, instead of a different application of those animations.

Maybe my standards are set differently than everyone else's, but I think this could use quite a bit of work to be a good mod.

IceCC does not function on my computer and Ice is one big mess. Any iscripting ive done ive really had to strain to get to work.

Already said on the overlays.

Excalibur, just remeber, Once Starcraft.Org re-opens its mod section (which should hopefully be soon, they added like 18 new staff) be sure to submit the finished product there, so people (like me) can come back for it later, cuz im prolly not gonna be able to play sc for about three years (long story).

This thing looks pretty awesome, but I don't know how to DL it. :(

EDIT: I got it, holy crap this is fun. The infantry units are kind of unbalanced though. And there's no way to build a spawning pool. :O

Yes there is.

Hydra den + Evo chamber to enable pool. I didnt update the tooltips for buildings yet.

Balance is always being worked on from version to version, probobly the hardest part of modding.

I held off a ground enclosed area with 20 turrets and 20 marines.

The enemy has the yamato ultralisks, hydras, lurks and everything else.

This is why balance needs updating. :P
