View Full Version : scmdraft help
is it possible to flip the map around, 90 degrees etc? any other editor that can do it?
Directly? I don't think so, but you can convert it to an image flip it in an appropriate editor and then reimport it as a map with SCMDraft 2, although never used that feature myself. :)
Note: Realise that all locations will be lost (and triggers don't if you keep the initial version of the map, that is).
wow, you can do that? all I basically gotta do it flip it over with some image editor, and then it might work just perfect? this is too good if it works. So I basically save it as a image with scmdraft, and flip it over, and then what exactly?
Reimport it with BMP2SCM. But after looking SCMDraft 2 better noticed that it doesn't reimport images as maps. Due to that all units saved in the map with SCM2Draft might clash with the simple BMP2SCM so it would be better to leave it for sole melee maps (although I have a feeling that you're already goin' to do that ;)). Or initial map stages in which you have very few of'em and are able to replace'em quickly.

.. holy fudge that would take alot of programming... You can't do it becuase of the isometric view, if it were 2D or 3D it would work..
um. eh. When you flip it 180% some of the things such as doodads, minerals, water etc is still upside down. And scmdraft cant open it. Besides, no matter how hard I look it can only be saved as BMP file, and scmdraft cant even open the original pictures I saved, they were bmp too. it's like "save as" and only bitmap is possible. Also, what should I flip it around with. More specific instructions needed.

It would work the same way (if it were 3D). 2D it already is even if ISOM masks it a bunch. For more details (on why), see below.

My thought out of the box wasn't polished enough to think of those details. Sorry. :(
Well, to make it work you'll have to rid the map from anything doodad related and resources. Then it should work. For that I suggest you to make a copy of the map before stripping it to the core. Then save that 'raw' version of it and make an image from it. Flip the image in the image editing program to those certain degrees (90º, 180º, 270º) you spoke of and save it. Then find BMP2SCM (http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=310) ('cause SEN seems to be down atm) and use the program to convert that *.bmp file into a *.scm. From there you must open the original map and by comparison rebuild what was removed. I trust that it'll work (even if not completely perfect). :)

From previous experience, this will sometimes cause very strange glitches (some areas turned into random doodad tiles repeated several dozen times), and I hope you can get it to work, Ahzz.
hmm I'm smelling some map hacking coming. :p
Create a program that will fli just the terrain and not anything else. I guess it would deend on if the terrain is a seperate data block from everything else. If it is it would be rather easy to make a simle program to do just that.

I wish it were that easy... that program would take alot of work.
tried to convert the image to map, only thing that remained after 15 minutes of converting was a black blank shit with only doodads and resources in the right place. and that was the one that wasn't flipped around.
Dunno if I did something wrong tho
Anyway, I gave up and decided to just continue with the map even tho it needed alot more effort. So far I've done quite well.
I suppose that you can do it... although my 1st aim for that might be hex editing the map itself. Which I don't possess the knowledge nor am willing to screw hard for it. >_<
DoA and MG might know enough of it to aid ya with it, though. ;)
