I have some maps I wanted to try out but they dont show up on the maps list when I try to play them.
All the maps with the .scx extension dont show up. All the ones with .scm show up.
How do I use these maps?
This is probably a really stupid question, but I have been searching for the answer and cant find it.
thanks

Have you tried them out in Original & Brood War? Did you make these maps yourself? I must admit that I don't fully understand the file names myself. When I make maps (I'm new to doing so) I can only play them in BW.

I assume that you are saving them in your SC maps directory? And that you are playing on BW?
If so all I can say is that when there are too many maps in a folder they don't all show up in single player, try creating another folder in the directory with fewer maps in it.

Maps you make with only StarCraft: Original units/buildings/whatever in it are saved with extension .SCM and can be played with both StarCraft: Original and StarCraft: BroodWar. Maps you make with StarCraft: BroodWar units/buildings/whatever in it are saved with extension .SCX and can only be played with StarCraft: BroodWar. The editor (the program you use to make a map) will automatically save the map with the right extension.

Ah, I think I could've figured that out now if I'd thought about it for a sec. lol.

Thank you everyone, I thought that I had tried it out in brood war and it didn't work. I tried it again and it was fine.

I know that both scx and scm files show up in the list, regardless of wheteher you are using plain vanilla or BW. Which can be annoying (I play original) because the list doesn't show the filename extensions, so you have to try to open them, then it will give you a message saying "nope, sorry can't do that."

You never tried playing a map in your downloads folder in single player? It wont show all 3000+ of them.
