I know this has been a long time coming. I've been downloading a ton of movies from torrents. I think my media player has finally crashed. Everytime I try to watch a movie it just closes because of an "error". I use the windows media player and also a different codec called media player classic. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks

What you've probably got is a codec problem. Note, media player classic is not a codec, but rather a different program that natively supports video formats that Microsoft's WMP does not. What file type are you attempting to play? *.MPG, *.AVI, *.OGM, something else?
I normally discourage the downloading of copyrighted media over the internet, but clearly no one cares except me, so I'll just stop trying to shove law down peoples' throats. :P

I'm always use avi. which is why it confuses me. It usually works with windows media and has worked fine with media player classic in the past.

and its originally for linux (windows version available) so doesnt that scream reliability?
Sorry just cause it was linux doesn't mean it's uber, use VLC instead. VLC plays everything under the sun and more.

Doesn't even need extra codec packs.

Yup, VLC is a really easy to use and no-nonsense all codec player.
Even plays mov files for Quicktime.
