Yeah, so after my recent bout with Windows XP and having no key for it, I 'found' a copy of Windows Vista Ultimate and decided to give it a whirl. Well, everything runs fine. Problem? No sound. I have the sneaking suspicion it's my sound card, but I don't really know. I know it isn't my headphones or speakers because, well, I've tried both of them. The computer reads the card and even says it's getting sound, but I'm hearing nothing but my neighbors doing yard work outside. Any help is appreciated.
And please, keep your anti-Vista sentiments to yourself unless they pertain directly to my problem. Thank you.
Drivers. Driver support for vista is still relatively poor for many.

I cannot believe I didn't think of that O_O
Sorry, eating, so I can't elaborate.
However I've seen a few articles that blast various groups for not releasing proper drivers (lol, from everything to anti-microsoft to anti-creative people).

I had the same problem with my Creative Sound Blaster Live on Vista and I used the custom driver from here: http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Files&go=cat&dwn_cat_id=20
Good thing it worked because Creative says they aren't releasing a Vista driver for my card. Compatibility chart:
