I am sorry for the really, really, really long RP Intro... but believe me, this is the "trimmed down" version of what I had.

I recently discovered that Shadowrun, one of my favorite games, has been reprinted by a company call FanPro with permission from WizKids (WizKids owns intelectual rights to all the cool old FASA material, including Shadowrun and Battletech).
In honor of Shadowrun's return from the grave it shared with it creator, FASA, I would like to start a slightly different RPG. This is more of a story-telling game than most of the other RPG's on the internet. One person writes the begining of the story (from his character's point of view), then passes it off to player 2, who then continues the story from his character's view, and then passes to player 3, or back to player 1 and so on and so forth to the completion of the run.

Disclaimers: (Blank legal disclaimer found at www.shadowrunrpg.com (http://mail.yahoo.com/config/login?/file://www.shadowrunrpg.com) ... not sure if we need it here or not, but better safe than sorry.)

WizKids, LLC has sole ownership of the names, logo, artwork, marks, photographs, sounds, audio, video and/or any proprietary material used in connection with the game Shadowrun. WizKids, LLC has granted permission to < fill in the name of your site > to use such names, logos, artwork, marks and/or any proprietary materials for promotional and informational purposes on its website but does not endorse, and is not affiliated with < fill in the name of your site > in any official capacity whatsoever.

The Game Master reseves the right to ask player to read the full post before deciding to play. In relation to this right, the GM further reserves the right to ridicule the first idiot to create a mage or adept with implants, because I clearly state that magic and cyberware are mutually exclusive (you cannnot have both, only one or the other). The aforementioned illiterate idiot will then identify and immediately repair the oversite, or said idiot shall be forever ignored in Shadowrun.... at least this Shadowrun. The gamemaster further points out that he has butchered the game to fit it into this forum. Please do not make assumptions about the worth of the game based on what I have presented below, because what I put below only vaguely resembles the supreme uber awesomeness (is that a word?) of the Shadowrun system.

the format I want to use if fairly simple.

1. I will post potential runs as they would appear on the boards of the Denver Data Haven (an online, underground BBS that all characters have access to, either as deckers or on net-turtles... old fashioned terminals, laptops, and desktops)

2. Your character posts, expressing interest in the job, and submitting a 'resume' which will include your runner type, weaponry and skills available, as well as a background. You will need to submit a resume before each run, even if you are using the same character (providing updates to your character through the course of the game, and allowing new players to get a brief, up-to-date look at their possible teamates should they decide to participate in that particular run)

3. You and any other characters that accept the job will meet with 'Mr. Johnson' (The commonly accepted alias for whomever is employing you and providing the pay and initial intelligence... in other words, me), who will provide you with all pertinent information about the run, the target, and then haggle over the nuyen (money).

4. You and the other characters that accept the job will then do the run, in story format. Use 'narrative combat' and your characters skills and abilities to accomplish the goals and escape with the pay-data. I (as DM) leave the details, other than those I specify before the run, up to you. In other words, I will provide a goal and setting, and it will be up to you, the players, to write a story about how you accomplish that goal.

5. Post back on the board that the job is complete. 'Mr. Johnson' will then meet with you to make the exchange and complete the transaction... or attempt to betray you and your team if you were careless. No run will be considered 'complete' until one of the players posts a message addressed to 'Mr Johnson' stating that the run is complete and you are ready to exchange payment for data.

***PLEASE NOTE*** this means I will not be controlling any part of your Shadowrun. I will supply the goals, setting, and possibly a few obsticles. You will recieve the run from 'Mr Johnson' (me), and I will not post or interfere in your run until you make a post, addressed to 'Mr Johnson', that states the run is complete. At that time, I will review the story, assign your reputation bonuses, and set up the meeting to give you your pay. However, I may be creating a character to do some runs in addition to acting as 'Mr Johnson'

Welcome to the Shadows

The year is 2060. The world has changed, some say Awakened.

A long lull in the mystical energies of the universe has subsided and magic has returned to the world. Elves, dwarves, orks, and trolls have assumed thier true forms, throwing off thier human guises. Creatures of the wild have changed as well, transforming into beasts of myth and legend. Many traditions of magic have come back to life, and shamans and mages have carved out a place in the new world for themselves and thier powers. Many aspects of the Awakening remain misteries, but modern society fights to assimilate the ways of magic into a technological world.

The decades that followed the Awakening were years of panic and turmoil, as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse seemed to race across the Earth. Cultures that had never lost touch with thier mystical pasts began to use magic against the great nations that had supressed them for so long. The vast telecomunications network collapsed under an assault by a mysterious computer virus. Dragons soared into the skies. Epedemics and famine ravaged the worlds population. Clashes between newly Awakened races and the rest of humanity became common. All central authority crumbled, and the world began to spiral down into the abyss.

But Man and his kin are hearty animals. Out of the devastation and chaos, a fragile new social order slowly emerged. Advanced simulated sensorium (simsense) technology helped eradicate the last vestiges of the computer virus and replace the old telecomunications network with the new virtual-reality world of the Matrix. Amerindians, elves, orks and dwarves formed new nations. Where the environmental degredation and pollution have made many areas uninhabitable, eco-groups wage war on polluters, and Awakened powers use incredible magics to heal the earth. Central governments have been balkanized into smaller nations and city-states, as fear of the world's changes drive wedges between people of different backgrounds. Vast metropolitan sprawls known as metroplexes cover the landscape; these urban jungles swallow whole regions. Police departments unable to contain crime waves and civil unrest have been privatized or thier work contracted out to coorporations.

Megacorporations have become the new world superpowers, a law unto themselves. The entire planet speaks their language, as the Nuyen has become the global monetary standard. The Megacorps play a deadly game, playing pawns in the shadows to help them get an edge on the competition. Meanwhile, corporate executives and wage slaves hole up in their own enclaves, safe behind layers of security and indoctrination. Outside the walls of these arcologies and gated communities, whole stretches of the sprawl have become ungovernable. Gangs rule the streets; the forgotten masses grow, lacking even a System Identification Number (SIN) to give them any rights. These outcasts, dissidents and rebels live as the dregs of society, squatting in long-abandoned buildings, surviving through crime and predatory instincts. Many of them attempt to rise above their miserable existences by slotting addictive BTL (Better-than-life) chips, living vicariously through someone else's senses. Others band together, some for survival and others to gain their own twisted forms of power.

Technology, too, has changed people. No longer merely fleash, many have turned to artificial enhancements of cyberware to make themselves more than human. Some acquire implants that allow them to directly interface with machines, like deckers who run the Matrix with a cyberdeck and programs or riggers who jack into vehicles or security systems and become one with them. Others seek to push the envelope of thier physical capabilities, testing themselves on the streets against other street samauri. The human of 2060 is stronger, smarter, faster than his predecessors.

In the world of 2060, the metroplexes are monsters that cast long shadows. And in the cracks between the giant corporate structures, shadowrunners find their homes. Entire societies live and die in a black-market underworld, exploited and abused, yet powerful in their own way. The Mafia, Yakuza and other crime syndicates have grown explosively as their networks provide anything that people will buy. Shadowrunners are the professionals of this culture where self-sufficiency is vital. When the megacorps want a job done but don't want to dirty their hands, they need a shadowrun, and they turn to the only people that can pull it off: The Shadowrunners. Though only the blackest of governmental or corporate databases even registers a shadowrunner's existence, the demand for his or her services is high. Deckers can slide like a whisper through the databases of giant corporations, spiriting away the only thing of real value - information. Street samurai are enforcers for hire whose combat skills and reflexes make them the ultimate urban predators. Riggers can manipulate vehicles and drones for a variety of purposes. Magicians, those rare folks who possess the gift of wielding and shaping the magical energies that now surround the earth, are sought after to spy on competition, sling spells against an enemy, commit magical sabotage, and for any other purpose that their employers can dream up. All these individuals sell their skills to survive, taking up the tasks too illegal or dangerous for others to dare.

Basic Runner Types
The following terms refer to runners who specialize in various fields.

Mages are one type of magical character, known for using thaumaturgical abilities in a scientific manner. To mages, magic is about knowledge and structure. Mages cast spells, perceive and project astrally, and congure elemental (fire, water, earth, air) spirits.

Shamans are magicians who follow a totem spirit animal, such as Coyote or Bear, and embody that totem's characteristics. To shamans, magic is attunement with the forces of nature. Like mages, they can cast spells and astrally project and perceive. They also conjure nature spirits or Spirits of Man.

Adepts, the modern-day ninjas and berserkers, use magic to enhance the body's abilities. Adepts tend to be athletically oriented, with good stealth and combat skills.

**Notes**
Magic is unable to directly effect Space/Time… That means Teleportation and Time Travel are impossible, but they are considered the 'Holy Grail' of many magical research labs.
The presence of implants damages an adept's, mage's or shaman's ability to manipulate the mana that gives him his power.
No mage willingly accepts physical implants.
Outer space is a magical 'dead zone'… mana and astral space cease to exist outside of earth's atmoshere. A common explanation is that there is not enough ambient life in the vacuum of space to generate mana, but the true cause is unknown. Any magic user that has attempted to use magic outside earth's atmosphere has died or gone insane.

Deckers are skilled at computer programming and manuevering through the datastreams of the virtual-reality telecomunications grid known as the Matrix. They use special, custom-built computers known as cyberdecks that allow them to project their minds directly into the Matrix's complex, three-dimensional reality. By illegally logging on to the Matrix, deckers can run search routines, tap phone calls and break into system hosts to retrieve data. They use a variety of programs to accomplish such operations, as well as attack and defense programs to engage in cybercombat with another decker or Intrusion Countermeasures (IC) construct.

Riggers have a piece of cyberware known as a Vehicle Control Rig (VCR) installed in their bodies. The VCR allows them to interface directly with suitably adapted vehicles, seing through the vehicle's sensors and controlling it as they control their own bodies. Riggers can use a remote control deck to do this from a remote location, and may even control several vehicles or drones at once in this manner. Many riggers specialize in drones, remote control vehicles of varuing sizes and capabilities used for surveillance and combat. Certain riggers, called security riggers, use their cyberware and skills to jack directly into a buildings security system; these characters become living monitors that can react instantly to intruders.

Street Samurai are physically enhanced combat monsters. With cyberware implants and combat skills, they attempt to be the quickest, meanest and strongest killing machines on the streets. Many of the cybernetically boost their reflexes to get an edge, or boost their strength so they can inflict more damage. Many are also lethal with firearms, and almost all have a smartlink cyberware system installed for increased precision in shooting. Some fight for honor, some because they get paid for it (usually called mercenaries), and others because they are insane enough to go up against anything.

**Notes**
One thing every good Street Sam, Rigger, or Decker gets is reaction and speed enhancers. The shadow world is a world of guns and in many runs, it all boils down to 'shoot them before they shoot you.'
Body armor does not mean you are bulletproof. Getting shot hurts.

All Runners have a few things in common. Almost all runners are all criminals... usually by virtue of your existence. Deckers, Street Sams, and Riggers almost always have illegal or restricted cyberware installed in their bodies (not to mention the prerequisite guns and weaponry of your trade), making you subject to arrest by authorities; Shaman, Mages, and Adepts (should they be identified as such) can almost always be arrested for practicing unlicensed magic without a System Identification number. You all have given up your name and SIN, usually taking on a Street Name to identify with your rep (Past characters include 'Napoleon', 'Judas', 'Flak', 'Hot Rod', 'Ghost' and 'Stoker Ace'). Almost all runners are familiar with guns. Even Mages use guns due to the physical and mental drain involved in spellcasting. Almost all runners use some kind of body armor.

All Corporations have a few things in common. Almost all have hired runners in the past, and almost all will hire runners in the future. In most cases, they do not hold grudges against runners unless the runners are exceptionally violent. Megacorporations make their own laws and have their own security armies, usually providing standard issue equipment to each individual security force depending on the value of whatever they are guarding. A shadowrunner killed during a run (or attempted run) is never missed, and no corporation can be held legally accountable... because they are the law. Therefore, most corp security has adopted a 'shoot first, shoot last, and shoot often' policy. Normal employees of corporations fear shadowrunners (they act like you are criminals or something).

You didn't post a layout thing, so I'll just make post what I think necessary.

Nickname: Dimitri
Sex: Male
Age: 34
Class: Mage w/ implants. (JUST KIDDING! :D) } Mage
Description: Dimitri wears black to naturally hide in with the shadows. A trenchcoat is his clothing of choice, although he sometimes will wear a pitch black robe typically stereotyped of mages. A black staff is Dimitri's magical channeler and also a weapon. Dimitri also has a two glocks, one in each of his major pockets.

Dimitri is an experiences Shadowrunner, and he has completed many succesful runs in the past. Few of his runs end in failure, often at the fault of others. He strives to suceed, as he feels he must always challenge himself.

----

Dimitri looked around the room as he typed on the laptop. It was slow and ancient, but it served him well for his job. Dimitri clicked on the secret icon he had placed on his desktop and typed in a 20 digit password. Another screen popped up and he entered a 10 digit password. A mistake at this point would erase all information on the computer and would render it useless.

A small screen popped up, welcoming Dimitri to the IGNN, as he had dubbed it himself, naming it Intergalactic News Network as it reached to all the jobs he needed.

One caught his eye, and he opened it for further viewing.

'Interesting,' Dimitri thought to himself, 'this seems like a good job.' Dimitri had worked for Earth-First before, and they had seemed fairly respectable. Dimitri worked into the network and contacted the person who had posted it, sending him his description, name, and previous accomplishments.

'I should get ready, for I will need to go meet him once he replies.' Dimitri gathered his weapons and sat back down at his desk.

Nickname: Tech
Sex: Male
Age: 23
Class: Rigger
Description: Tech wears a black and dark grey skin-tight suit made of a special semi-bullet proof fabric and has a thin brick of titanium over his heart. The suit is like shorts and a jersey in one, except alot tighter. He wears goggles and carries a black back-pack which holds titanium alloy ropes used for climbing and grappling, small flashlights and glowsticks, batteries, 4 small machine guns, and lots of ammo.

At age 19, he had his implants placed into him so he could become a rigger. He took a couple minor jobs here and there, getting about 90% of them done, but usualy just sat around, eating and sleeping. Lately, as the demand for Shadow Runners has gone up, Tech has decided to do more jobs than he was doing before and join in on the fun.

***

Tech was on one of the Ancient desktops as people rarely tapped into them. It was slow and needed several repairs, but it was good for what he needed. He opened a Program on his Computer called ShadowRun.EXE and searched for job offers.

One caught his eye. He smiled and submited his information to this "Mr. Johnson". He gathered his supplies in anticipation. He hoped his lack of experiance wouldn't make him underqualified.

Name: Ryotsei
Age: 24
Sex: Male
Class: Unknown(Doesn't fit in standard category)
Equipment: Tightly-weaved steel suit that covers his entire torso and lower body, black boots with steel inserts and spiked sole, trenchcoat and black pants with fiberglass shielding, and a special visor that goes over one eye, displaying read outs of his surroundings(not an implant). The only implant he has is a cybernetic hand, which can fire small electric bolts, as well as utilize other ammunitions in small quantities, mysterious in nature, he experiments with its capabilities.
Background: Born just outside one of the metroplexes, he lived a hard existence with his family until they were taken by a megacorparation, for reasons unknown. Ryotsei was forced to look for some way to make it through life, and was soon taken in on a mistake by a shadowrunner. Taking pity on him, and requiring help for a job he was taking, he trained him the way of a shadowrunner for a month, when the job required him to take action. The job started safe, but as soon as they reached their objective, a mysterious new weapon, security forces attacked them. His mentor was quickly shot down, though Ryotsei managed ot get back outside the facilities with the weapon. He was nearly into an escape tunnel when a drone shot at him, disintegrating his right hand. Ryotsei dived into the tunnel and managed to get away, his hand bleeding profusely. He bandaged his wound, but fell unconcious before he made it all the way out. Awakening near the exit, he decides it is time to see what he got, and quickly opened its protective casing. He was shocked to find a metallic hand, and even more when an eye snapped open on its back, flaring red. He backed away, but the hand quickly flew to his bleeding stump, a searing pain and light flew out, as it integrated with him. He tested out this mysterious weapon, and soon found it to be useful in his new career as a shadowrunner. (Insert dramatic ending comment) :)

This thing ok?

If so:
Ryotsei tapped into the network and searched for new job listings, his visor processing through the data. Finding one he liked, he opened it up.
This could prove interesting.

The Magister, Cuda, Cuda, Dimitri, Tech, Jin, Shadowen and Ryotsei all recieve replies from the email of Mr Johnson, Earth-First.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your interest in accepting this mission. The offered payout is 50,000 Nuyen each; the 25,000 Nuyen bonus payment will be evenly split among surviving members of the assault force.

I ask thet you meet on the seventh floor of Dante's Inferno at 8:00 pm in two days. Anyone late for the meeting will be left behind. I expect you each to develope a plan for how to accomplish our goals, we will decide on a course of action. That will leave you with five days to accomplish our objectives.

Our meeting at Dante's will be our last contact until the run has been accomplished. I expect this issue to be handled, in full, within the week. Only the successful destruction of the main reactor or the mainframe computer will suffice for the mission to be considered a success and the payout to be made. Delivery of the requested personel files will be arranged at that time, and payout of any bonus will be made.

Good luck,
Mr Johnson, Earth-first
--------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone has any questions for me, please PM them...

game notes:
Dimitri, you have worked for Earth-First before, but this is a different "Mr Johnson" than you worked with on the last occasion. As you might expect, any attempt to contact the Earth-First organization will meet with a denial of any knowledge of who you are, your past work for them, or your current job.

Shadowen, an Irish background is an interesting choice. The Awakening of magic within the world hit Ireland, England, and Scottland very hard. Magic has blossomed there in strange and unpredictable ways, theoretically due to one of the Seven Great Dragons emerging from the area of Stonehenge, or possibly due to the extreme concentration of ley lines and power within that same area. In the rest of the world, approximately 3% of the population was born with magical abilities (either Shaman, Mage, or Adept).... while England, Ireland, and Scottland boasted an almost 25% magical activity rate. The old English Government was overthrown, and a new, Magical Theocracy has arrisen, one ruled by the Immortal Great Dragon Solistithus. Work that into your story if you wish, or don't... but I will warn you now, a run in England may be in the future.
(OOC: Seal, do you want to play buth Shadowen and Jin? I have no problem with that... you could make them a team or take them on runs one at a time... And yes, a mage would be effectively crippled by cosmetic breast implants.)

Cuda, magical ability being passed on within a family line is somewhat rare, but not unheard of... at least for an adept. You might consider being of Native American (Amerindian) ancestry, as many of todays Shaman and Adepts are remnants of the old Wise Men, Elders, and Warriors of the old tribes. When the Awakening happened, Native Americans were more able to adapt quickly, accepting the true powers of magic and welcoming the return of the spirit world. Most of what is now the western United States is now known as the NAN (Native American Nation) and is ruled by an Inter-tribal Council.

Tech, it may be a good idea to describe your primary vehicle and a few drones. A rigger is defined by the vehicles and drones he operates remotely while on a run. I would suggest as your main vehicle you choose either a Helocopter of some kind or a VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) jet. You will often need to make deliveries and smuggling runs where an airstrip is unavailable.

(OOC: Hehe, you got confused there, Sterling.

If you look closely, the two names are Hylje and Holjfie. Hylje is Seal and Holjfie is another person. I know, I got confused myself before.

BTW, I'm assuming Dante's Inferno is some sort of night club)

'Dante's Inferno, eh?' Dimitri had never been there before, but he knew the way. He had driven by it several time on other runs, it seemed to be thriving while other... businesses around it were dying. Dimitri would be there early, a good impression never hurt. With the job on his mind, Dimitri slept.

*Two days later*

Dimitri gathered his glocks and staff, both of which felt smooth in his hands. Putting the glocks away into the pockets of his trenchcoat, Dimitri walked out the door, his coat drifting behind him. The sun peeked over the horizon, and a faint call of a bird was heard. The world saw peace, which would soon be disturbed by the noise of the living.

After about a half hour of driving, Dimitri arrived at the place. Pulsing lights beamed out the windows with multitudes of colours. Techno music blasted from the building, and it was incredibly loud, even outside. Dimitri slowly walked up to the entrance, so not to attract attention. A large, well built man stood outside the door. He looked down at Dimitri as the mage approaches.

"Sorry, this is for members only." The gaurd blocked the doorway.

"Perhaps you will make an exception."

"No exception, buddy. You have to be a member to get in."

Dimitri sighed. "Perhaps you might make an exception for one Dimitri." The man's dull eyes lit slightly, recognizing the name.

"Ah yes, Dimitri. Sorry for the inconveniance, enjoy your... visit." The man moved out of the way... which was lucky for him. If the man had not allowed him to gain entrance, then he would have had to been... dealt with.

Dimitri was met with a mix of blinding colourful lights and blasting sound. People were dancing around him, there was no space and everyone touched everyone. A haze of smoke set in over the place, and there were several of the most illegal drugs beind used in the corners. Dimitri muscled his way through the crowd, who most likely had been in this rave from the night before.

Eventually, Dimitri came to a wall, somewhat secluded from the place. He tried to look quite nonchalant while he waited, for something, he did not know what.

The mage felt his clothing being picked up and saw himself looking at the muscled gaurd that he had met outside.

"Dimitri, please, come this way," he requested in a gruff voice. Dimitri had no choice but to comply and trust that this man was in the ranks of Mr. Johnson. The man led Dimitri to the other side of the building, where a red door waited. Opening the door, the man thrust Dimitri inside the room.

As Dimitri looked about the poorly lit room, a man's voice split the air, "Ah, you must be Dimitri. I have been informed of your presence, and I must say, I am quite pleased with your tardyness and with your record. Please, take a seat, you are the first to arrive. I will explain everything when everyone arrives." Dimitri looked at the man, who seemed to be sitting behind a desk. The shadows hid any detail, and only a small outline was seen. With nothing else to do, Dimitri took a seat in one of the chair laid out for them.

OK... Fast-Forward Two days to Dante's Inferno. You are led to a small meeting room on the seventh floor, Mr Johnson is waiting. He is a middle-aged man in combat boots, parachute pants and a grey t-shirt that says "Save The Trees; Cut Down some Lumberjacks".

Despite his somewhat rugged atire, he seems to be all business once you arrive. He will ask you all to be seated around a conference table, and once you all arrive, he will tell you what he can of the facility.

"Yamatetsu's new facility is located on the edge of the Coyote's Breath Lake in the middle of this forested region approximately 2 and a half miles from Seatle. They plan to use lake-water as coolant and have managed to bribe the corporate courts into ignorint the environmental ramifications. Yamatetsu corporation has ignored repeated warnings we have sent about the dangers to the surrounding forest and lake, and we have decided to take action.

"Entry points to the facility are limited, but there are a few possibilities. The water intake valves here on the lake will be inactive until the main facility goes online, but you will have to cut through some reinforced metal bars to gain entry that way. Cutting through those bars will activate the alarm system. There is also a landing pad on the roof, but it is well-guarded and you can bet any unscheduled attempts to land there will be met with maximum force. The only other available entry is through the front gate. I cannot provide access cards, so you will have to hack into the building security system to disengage the magnetic locks on the doors. It may be possible to disguise or bluff your way past the perimeter security posts, but it would be risky.

"Once inside, you will have to find your way to an access port within the facility to steal the personel files, or attempt to gain access to the mainframe itself. Unfortunately, the mainframe is heavily guarded and will not be an easy target. The Main Reactor is much more lightly guarded, but there will still be some resistance.

"The security system is on a closed network, so you will have to access the building itself or one of the data ports on the exterior sensors to deactivate it.

"Yamatetsu Security has detailed two squads to the premesis, and they will be alert for possible invasion. Each squad consists of twenty men, all highly trained in the use of firearms and security procedures. Fortunately, Yamatetsu Security does not believe in using implants... but you can bet that each man there will be highly trained. We also have unconfirmed reports of a corporate Wage-Mage* having been assigned to the site.

"That is all the inteligence we can provide you with at this time. Now it is up to you to plan this mission and strike a blow for the planet. I look forward to seeing an email from you when the mission is a success. Payment has been transferred to the Orbital-Swiss bank, and you will be provided with the account number to access your funds when the mission is complete."

'Mr Johnson' then sits at the head of the table to answer any questions you may have.

(OOC: Good luck, and good writing. I will check my PM's daily to answer questions, and will be looking forward to seeing how you accomplish the first Shadowrun. I will be working on the next set of runs in the mean time. And thanks for pointing out the two different names, WK... friggin wierd. expect me to get confused at least two more times :) )

*Wage-Mage is a slang term for a mage that works for a corporation at a salary. It is similar to the slang Wage-Slave, which is a derogatory term for any corporation employee.

(OOC: ACK! I just realized I have been getting the names of the two Corps confused. for the record, Yamatetsu is opening up the new power plant. Renraku currently hold the monopoly on electricity within Seatle. Sorry for the confusion.... totally my fault.)

(OOC: Hmm... I wonder if this would become a Sub-Forum. I don't know if I would be for it or against it... but I think this could do it if it suceeds a lot, which I think it will. Oh well, I think I'd rather this just stay in the RP forum.

I say that we should refrain from posting about the mission until several people get to the room first. Unless people just want to kick it from here.

Well, I can't write a good post with the little time I have left, I have to go to sleep. Tomorrow, then. G'night for now.

EDIT: BTW, no prob on fixing that. And that seems to be 3 mistakes already, forgetting the *, mixing up the names, and mixing up the companies. True to your word. ;))

(OOC: How did I not see this here?)

Character:

Name: Shawn Valley
Gender: Male
Occupation: Refuse, and utility truck driver.
Age: 19
Class: Rigger

Equipment:

Weapon: Semi-automatic Shotgun, small calibre, nickel plated handgun handed down from his father.
Clothing: Typical grunge outfit, Denim overalls stained brown, work gloves, usually shirtless, heavy black boots, goggles to keep trash out of his eyes.
Appearance: Shawn is Caucasian, with golden blond hair, and an intensely blue right eye, his left eye was replaced with his VCR(Vehicle Controll rig) I/O jack, specializes in the operation of the mammoth 4 kilometre long garbage trucks used by the various corporations to remove waste from the archologies.

Intro:

Shawn connected his VCR to the dashboard of the trash rig, and accessed his profile on the DDH(Denver Data Haven.)
"One new message," a female voice announced. Shawn decided to open it, it was from an employer he desperatly needed a job from and was his last hope of getting the 10,000 Nuyen he was short to drive his way out of this damned city. However at the sight of the subject of the message, Shawn broke down in tears. "We're sorry to inform you, Mr. Valley that..." Was as far as he read before Shawn tore the cable from his eye socket. The pain was immense, and Shawn passed out.

Awakening from the blackness Shawn found himself lying face down in a puddle of blood next to his truck. Looking up at the beast of a machine which Shawn had spent so many years painting, and maintaining, tears welled up in his eyes. "I'm goign to have to sell her," he thought, lost in his own helpless situation. Shawn and his father had constructed the cabin of the rig when Shawn was 12, and together they purchased the seperate holding containers, it was when Shawn was 15 that he was first able to drive it, and he got his implants. And it was while Shawn was away on his first job that his father had died, reading a book, in the big armchair in the livingroom, a bullet hole the size of a grape in his forhead. Of course the culprit had never been officially found, but Shawn had a good idea who it was.

There was a bike gang in the area notorious for heinous deeds like this one, and this time they would not escape unpunnished. The gang was a viscious bunch of thieves and swindlers, however they were in need of a rigger as they were short one driver for their raids. This is where Shawn inserted himself into the group, and found he had a natural knack for motorcycles. by the age of 18 Shawn was high enough within their organisation that he could request a private meeting with the boss, and it was at this meeting, in the location Shawn had specifide, that he exacted his revenge.

The leader of the biker's, Rickardo, AKA, Smooze, arrived on scedule, and Shawn took invited him into the abandoed apartment complex Shawn had been claiming was his home. Up to the 11th floor Shawn led the bastard up, and invited him to take a seat. There was only one chair in the room, the chair Shawn's father had been killed in. Shawn watched the man's eyes widen with fear as he saw the chair and reached for his gun.

"I said, TAKE A GOD DAMN SEAT!" Shawn yelled, as menacingly as possible, raising Smooze's gun, level with his forehead. "It's about time I returned the favor."

A loud bang echoed accross the rotten land, and bikers swarmed into the abandoned complex. However all they found there was their leader shot through the head. Shawn had set up ropes and had traversed all the way down the out side of the building, he had reversed the locks on all the doors in the entire building, and had drenched the entire thing, from ceiling to floor with the last of the gasoline from the gas station his father had run. Lighting a match Shawn lit the trail of gasoline at his feet. The flame sped off to the building 20 metres awak and engulphed it in flame. The terrifired shreiks of those inside permeated the sticky brown landscape.

Shawn thought back to the time he had spent with his father working on the truck and decided that he could never part with her. He reconnected to the DDH and ran a frantic search fro jobs. There was only one which promised the neccessary cash.

Ryotsei sat quietly as they were briefed, his visor being quite handy in recording the data, which was stored in the small hard drive he kept for it, in a electromagnetically shielded pocket on his belt, which was cleverly hidden as a decorative pattern. Thinking of the doors, he decided to ask a question. How well is their electrical shielding? Would one be able to take out their main power if they were to dangerously increase the voltage?

Shadowen spoke up, saying, "Are we going to get any special equipment from you? If so, I'd prefer a light vehicle."
'Mr Johnson' shakes his head slowly, "I know some other corporations may be able to offer specialized equipment when you are working for them, but unfortunately, Earth-First does not have the resources to provide anything beyond payment. Anything you use on the run will have to be provided by yourselves."

When Mr. Johnson finished, The Magister asks, "If the alarm is tripped, how long of a response do the squads have? Will we be able to vacate the area before squads arrive? Not that I expect to run, mind you, I am just curious as to how long we have to prepare for battle if an alarm is tripped..."
'Mr Johnson' shrugs, "Unfortunately, we are not sure. all the data we can provide you with is in the briefing. You could try making a practice run at the site... just set off the alarms to judge there response and escape to do the full assault another day. Or you could track one of the security personel home and try to get the security access codes and better intel from them."

(OOC: It is a good question, but that is the type of thing you can determine in the course of writing the story. Remember, I will not be controlling the 'bad guys'... (OOC: Your character is fine. the only real problem is with the almost magical way in which the attachment grafted itself to you... usually cyberware requires a team of highly skilled doctors to implant, or a trained 'street-doc' if you don't mind risking infection and death. Magic and cyberware do not mix. Some things normally associated with a hand implant are retractable fingertip razors, concealed compartments, monofilament whips, garrotes, data jacks, cutting lasers, sensor equipment, 'smartlinked' gun targeting systems, and strength enhancements. Dimitri crossed his legs as the others arrived. One by one, they sat down in the chairs. As soon as everyone arrived, Mr. Johnson seemed open for questions.

The mage stayed silent as the others asked questions. Dimitri had learned long before that it was a good idea to listen and rarely ask. Most often, people will ask your questions for you; you will not appear weak. Appearing weak may severely injure your image, and Dimitri disliked his image tarnished.

Several minutes later, after Mr. Johnson appeared to be done with the questions, Dimitri stood up and scanned the room, memorizing all details about his team mates for this run. Never had he seen them before, but he believed that they were almost as qualified as he, if not as.

"Shall we go?" Dimitri suggested to the others.

The Magister steps onto the sidewalk, & turns to his collagues, & calmly asks, "How exactly are we getting there?"

No one has any responses, so The Magister steps into the street, & stands there.

Almost in response, a group of motorcyclists ride up. The Magister stops the lead driver, says something, & a few of the riders get off, leaving their motorcycles there running. The rest of the group offers seats on their motorcycles to their companions, & they continue riding.

The Magister grabs the lead motorcycle, & states, "Well? We going, or are you guys going to stand there dumbfounded?"

Dimitri looked at the motorcycles with dismay. The bikes seemed to be somewhat rundown and unkempt, with gas dripping behind most of them. Scratches seemed to overtake the bike, and many parts had dents and cracks.

"Uhh... I think I will prefer to take my own vehicle," Dimitri explained to The Magister, gesturing towards his jeep." Dimitri crossed the street, dodging out of the way of one speed demon, and entered his jeep. As soon as he turned the key, the stereo turned on. Classical blared out of the music, it always calmed him before a job.

Smoke rose behind the wheels as Dimitri pinned the gas, taking off at breakneck speed. He concentrated on the road; several time Dimitri had to dodge pedestrians in the middle of the street. The jeep roared down the highway, towards to location of the job. Dimitri did not look behind him to see if anyone was following, he would do the job alone if he had to - more money for him.

Dimitri travelled for roughly and hour before the land began to slope, his jeep ascending and descending. The trend began to turn downwards, and Dimitri grew more alert. He knew he was drawing near to the plant.

Dimitri tore down the valley, kicking up dust from the gravel road. The jeep lifted up temporarily as Dimitri rounded the corner. Dimitri countinued without a thought to it. The Renraku plant loomed up ahead of him as he finished the curve. It was behemothic, rising up above the ground with a gigantic silhouette against the lowering sun.

'Ah, I've arrived," Dimitri thought, slowing his jeep down to a stop and taking cover behind a large hill. He would wait until sundown to begin his attack, hopefully the others would join him by then.

The Magister rides for half an hour, taking the back-roads that he has come to know, & arrives just as Dimitri. The Magister watches as Ryotsei pokes his head around the jeep, & chuckles at Dimitri's stunned reaction.

The Magister decides to scout out the perimeter. He silently moves to the outer wall, noting the position of the motion detectors on a notepad that he sometimes carries around to note the position of the enemies, & other obstacles. The Magister easily moves under the outer wall & into the inner compound, just before the plant itself. The Magister watches the route of the squads & notes them accordingly. The Magister slips around the wall mapping it out as he has done on many other runs.

Satisifyed by his comprehensive map, The Magister returns to the place where he left Dimitri, to find the rest of his collagues waiting for him.

He hears them yelling back & forth about where he could be. The Magister calmly walks up, only to be barraged by shouts from every direction. The Magister calmly explains, "I got here shortly before Dimitri, & I decided to scout the perimeter & squad movements & such. Without detection, I might add. Here is what I have found."

The Magister puts the notepad onto the seat of the jeep & calmly explains the map, & potential enterences into the compound.

OOC: Ok, it'd be very unprofessional of anybody worrying about your character, much less yelling about it.

OOC: yes, but they might have been afraid that if I were caught, I'd tell everything. They might get caught, so they were worrying about where I was to save their own hides.

He slowly catches up to the one named Dimitri, but keeps his distance...

...w, & arrives just as Dimitri.

Vhaeraun, my character wouldn't give a damn if you were missing, and since you know nothing about my character, as we have not met before, I wouldn't be worried. My character has completed solo runs before (with a few close calls), so he wouldn't be too worried. The worst that could happen is them being alerted to the group's presence, which would make things considerably more difficult, but there would be more chance of them being discovered if started shouting all over the place. People on these runs don't care about someone else, there will be no going back for someone who has fallen behind. And there is no worrying about someone who has dissapeared.

I'd suggest that we go through the intake valves, using some sort of current carrying object to keep the alarm from being set off. I have some wires which may be of use. Once inside, we can probably go through a filtration system, and end up directly near the reactor. Of course, the mainframe will probably be located on the opposite side of the facility, so we may not be able to get our bonus if we attempt to destroy the reactor.

The Magister considers Ryotsei's thought, & replies, "What we COULD do is trigger the alarm, & see what the response time is. Then, after we find out the response time, we can decide the best way in."

Shadowen considers this for a moment, and says, "Or we could have a diversion. We set the alarm, have one person make noise at one end, enter the facility, and hopefull draw every security force in the facility. Probably suicide.

Or, we could enter in 3 groups. One goes intake, another goes through the backway, and then the last group becomes more of a diversion and enters the front door. All 3 groups avoid each other while in the complex, so security forces never gather together."

The Magister considers Shadowen's thoughts.

The Magister replies, "Well, the first option: the person who creates the diversion will have little chance to live, & probably won't live long enough for the distraction to make much effect...Hmmmmmmmmm...I volunteer for the diversion."

That would be foolhardy for a lone person to go, as it will not only kill them, but it will be extremely suspicious, and their entire base would go on lockdown.

The Magister says, "Look, everyone. I have nothing to live for. I have no memory of my past. I DO know, however, that if I do draw out every security personel, they will have one hell of a fight on their hands. I can handle myself. Now, you all might want to get going. When you hear the alarm go off, get in there as fast as you can. It has been a pleasure meeting you all. Farewell, & good luck."

And with that, The Magister turned & walked toward the facility.

Shadowen watched the man go, then said, "The fool will buy us time, but judging by the information given by our employer he will not survive. I still say we break into groups and complete the objective."

The Magister slipped into the inner grounds for the second time that day.

The Magister quietly made his way around the motion detectors, knowing that even if he accidently set one off, he could get away without getting caught. "But I am trying to get caught," The Magister thought with a hint of irony.

The Magister climbed onto the wall into the complex, & looked back to see his fellow runners still standing there waiting for the alarm to go off.

It was already past sunset, & it was pitch black all around him, yet The Magister could see every detail with ease. It was one of the features of the helmet, something that he himself added. The helmet was set so that when it was dark, a thin night vision film would coat the helmet's visor, allowing him to see as if it were daylight.

The Magister crept around the battlements & spoted the only guard he has seen since he left to return to his partners. The Magister quietly slid his swords out of their sheaths & crept closer to the guard...

Well, time to be off. Also, 'Magister' might require a little help.

Ryotsei shoots a monofilament line to the security camera, destroying it. Alarms soon blare out, and a spotlight focuses on the magister. Ryotsei starts running to the intake valves.

The Magister hears the alarm sound off, & quickly runs toward the guard & still silently guts him.

The Magister quickly takes the guard & jumps off the side of the wall, so the spotlight cannot see him.

He quickly changes into the guards clothes leaving his own on as well. The guard's dead body gets stashed into an air duct, & The Magister runs out, falling into step with the other guards running out to check the source of the alarm.

But then a voice shouts out, "Hey! You! Commere!" The Magister stops & walks toward the source of the voice. He stops in front of the man who called him over, noting the decorations that this man flaunted. "Yes sir?" The Magister replied innocently.

The man asked, "Shouldn't you be on the battlements?"

The Magister answered, "Yes sir, but when the alarm sounded, I jumped down to join my comrades in checking out the disturbance."

The man says, "Ah. A rookie mistake. Now get back up onto those battlements, on the double."

The Magister snapped to attention, & responded, "SIR, YES SIR!" The Magister snapped a salute, & quickly returned to the guard's original position.

Ryotsei soon reached the intake valve, and retrieved the wiring, acting quickly. After a brief test with his hand(the cybernetic one, duh. :)), he cut away a length of bar, and replaced the bar with a wire, not even a millesecond to complete the transition. He repeated this twice, and soon entered the pipeline, the entrance still open for the others.

The Magister watches Ryotsei enter the intake valve, & decided to go help him out.

The Magister walked off the battlements, & found out that the man who told him to get back on post was gone. The Magister entered the complex, & went to the barracks & accessed the database. He hacked his way into the security system, & saw Ryotsei making his way through the pipes. The Magister hacked a little farther, & shut down the security devices in the pipe, making the way clear to the reactor, & then acessed the personnel files & downloaded them to his pocket computer.

The Magister then pulled up the complex map, & found out the location of the facility's armory. He quickly made his way to the exit of the pipe & met Ryotsei. Ryotsei started to attack, when The Magister removed his helmet & said, "Ryotsei, come with me. We will go to the armory & outfit you & the others so we can blend in."

(OOC: Um....it wouldn't really be that simple. A distraction is ok, and your disguise is within limits, but walking inside the base without questions, hacking into the mainframe without being noticed, downloading the files from the mainframe, shutting down defenses, and then walking to meet me. You didn't even really word it fluently... Perhaps let someone else post that part? ^__^)

Ryotsei crawled stealthily along the pipe, covering himself with a special cloth to match his temperature to the rest of the pipe, so that the cameras, most likely infrared, would not be able to detect him. He sent a signal to the others to hurry up.

OOC: I would look within my place to wander inside the base, dressed as a guard. & within the complex's barracks, there would most likely be a computer that can access the database, so the guards could keep a track of the security breaches so they can respond to the disturbances faster. I just expanded those capabilities a bit.

Seeing that Magister had failed to do his part, Shadowen fired at the guards, aiming at their heads and firing 3-round bursts. They answered with heavy fire, and Shadowen was forced to duck and run from cover to cover, firing in response. Then he got pinned down, unable to move since the guards kept firing, and the boulder he was behind might not be the best place to be. Then, calculating the distance from himself to the battlements, Shadowen used his grenade launcher as a mortar and fired. It hit a cluster of guards.

He fired again, but the guards scattered. There were enough still standing to fire, however, and Shadowed answered by shooting at them to keep their heads down as he moved closer to the battlements.

The Magister heard the explosion outside the complex & realized that he had left the others hanging.

The Magister stripped off the stolen uniform, drew his katanas, & ran toward the battle out front.

When he arrived, the guards were focusing on the outside, so The Magister took this chance to eliminate a few guards. He ran onto the battlements, & started to "slice & dice" the guards. another grenade flew at the battlements, & The Magister ran toward the the grenade's target. He jumped up & flipped over the grenade seconds before the explosion, barely clearing the explosion path. The Magister flipped in the air, slicing open the nearest 4 guards. They fell into a bloody heap, & The Magister continued his gruesome work, using the ensuing gunfire & grenade explosions as a way to slice open all the guards on the battlements.

Soon, all the guard who were on the battlements were dead or running.

The Magister jumped off the battlements & walked to Shadowen. The Magister says, "Hello again. Sorry that I decided to enter the complex, instead of fighting. I thought that when I entered the complex, they would follow me into the complex & I could slaughter them in their own barracks, but they did not. I had the situation under control, until Ryotsei shot the camera out. Then, my plan fell apart. Right now, however, let us follow Ryotsei into the complex."

With that said, The Magister re-entered the complex through the front door.
