title says it all.

Simply: how do i give a HERO negative mana regeneration? I know you can do it on other units, but i can on heroes. Is there some sort of funky gameplay constant that i dont know about or something?
Help wanted.

Can't you tinker the hero mana regen value to negative values? ;) I recently did set a Elf custom hero of mine to 0 in the "Object Editor" so she has to steal mana to regen her pool (or take mana pots), although I still haven't tested it in game. :P

well, for units its different than for heroes... cuz your hero's intelligence would increase your mana regen?
(not sure if that's it... depends on the hero's stats... )
check that out... and if necessary, remove the mana regen from intel... (or try making the mana regen even lower?

hopefully that helped :)

What you mean when saying "negative"?

the destroyer, when it gets mana, loses it over time. It has a negative value for its mana regeration.
The hero i have made so far has a mana regen of zero. He has intelligence, but i had the manaregen per intelligence point constant set to zero.

And so, i try to change his mana regen in the object editor, but it wont let me go below zero

I realy don't know to help you.Look at Destroyers's stats an try to copy it to hero or try create abillity, aura, turn off effects, set how much mana it drains and at map init give it to hero,This can help, maybe :)

ohh... sry... :(
i thought that you were already using negative regen rates... :(

well, to allow for negatives:
go to the main window of the world editor (terrain editor) -> got to file -> preferences -> change the tabs of that newly opened window... and check off the field that says "allow negative real values"
(err... keep in mind that this is off the top of my head... so some steps are not quite perfect? but it should be close enough that you'll find it...) ;)

hopefully that helps :)

yeah, to be honest, im not to sure if thatll work either, but its worth a shot. If that doesnt work, than i guess ill have to do it with triggers

Hey, I think u can stop the Regen gained by Int, by modifying the Gameplay constants... but that's global. Hence not recomended.

Another way is to abuse the Mana Regeneration ability of Mana Fountain. set the values to -500% and ur done. Make the ability to only effect Self. If u need further help with tht ability, There's a tutorial on my Sig called Ability Guide. Hit it! It holds all the Blizz abilities that u can abuse in such a way.

You mean like this, 'Eredai? Just tweaked it in my test trial map and made my Ranger hero to have negative mana regeneration rates. Hope it works. :)

oh yeah, it worked. thanx yall. I just had to go to preferences and allow negative real values. That helps me so much.

Yeah, 'Eredai I was almost sure it would work because I've seen a few heroes around with zero mana regen (for instance like the Breaker one in EotA Twillight) and always suspected that it's basis was made in OE. :)

*Off topic*
Sid & Blacker, it's the Luna Element theme in case anyone wants it. If you look for it in "the post your desktop thread" inside the CC area (http://www.warboards.org/forumdisplay.php?f=5) you're sure to find links to it... because it was where I initially saw it. ;)
