View Full Version : What is the definition of "Good" when it comes to war3?
Ive heard redrag and others compare sheep to us in relation to pros but how much better are they really and what makes them better? It would be interesting to think that the skill gap may be narrower than someone thinks and we all the capacity to beat a pro. Im not saying i could just run out and beat grubby. However i am saying that if i were to play grubby 100 games, i would be able to get 1-99 at least because after playing and losing those other 99 games, i would figure out the way he plays and eventually figure out a way to beat him, despite having inferior micro. But basically isnt that what pros do? They play other pros, get a feel for their style, and adjust their owns style to counter it? Food for thought.
You have a few tiers of players, in my opinion. First, you have the players who are always playing a ton of games, very active and very very experienced. This is the ToD's, Lucifer's, etc. They are quick (hand speed) because they are constantly improving, never taking "breaks" or any of that stuff. They are on top of their game. You can see it in their reps, they know every timing issue, they know what unit to hit at what time, and they know where you are creeping 80% of the time, they know at what point to push you, etc. These people you have very little chance to beat just because they are constantly 100% on top of their game, and to face a fact, we aren't. I go to work part time and prepare taxes, I go to school. You work at Burger King and dropped out of school long ago. We can't get in as many games as we'd like to because of these reasons.
The next tier is good players like Axslav or Glade. These guys we could potentially beat, but it'd take us a lot of practicing. They don't play anywhere near as much as Grubby and crew, but they still play a hell of a lot more than us. Their micro and reaction are quick when they are active, but can decay too.
Then the third tier is the good solo players of a forum that we strive to beat.
Then the forth tier is the newbies.
I'm not sure where I stand, unfortunately. I could get a hell of a lot better if I stopped dicking around and actually spent my time well on this game, but I'm in this mode where I don't care. Plus, I like to have fun. By the way, do you consider "innovating" vs me tower rushing me? Cause that's what you do every other game, whether it be 2 crypt ghoul + CL beetle + zigs or FS/Grunt tower, you always play echo isles and you tower like 80% of your games. You should play a new map, you'd probably like it.
i dont always tower rush. one game i beat you with cl ghouls offensive spirit towers vs your hu, then i beat you with mass morts, then mass fiends. Cl first is alot more inovative then dk first against hu imo. And i never towered you with fs grunt, that was redrag

Good at the game? hmm, I think that goes to winning and being very good at winning. However, there is being excelent at the game, which comes from knowing damn near everything about it. Once you know damn near anything and can apply it when ever you want, you are an expert.
