I saw the blurb from the Blizzard exec about the possibility of SCII being released/announced this year. Frankly, it got me pretty excited. I'm not a hard-core gamer, I don't have the time. But I have been scouring Google for weeks trying to get more information -- no luck. Since the Blizzard folks are not going to help, I thought I'd post what I'd like to see if I did find anything.

- Please don't make SCII look like WC3. I am not a big fan of heros and micromanagement. I'd much rather select 500 guys and right click somewhere on the other side of a mini map. Give the edge to the folks who play with discipline sure, but there's a lot to be said for Soviet-style regard for the little guy.

- Increase the scale. Next to SC, my favorite RTS was Total Anhilation. I really enjoyed firing from across the map indiscrimately. (You could fire across the map in SC, but it required a little more effort, and the discipline that I will never possess.)

- Make the mouth's of the people talking match the words they are saying. (Technically, this is a challenge, but there are a lot of ways to approximate.)

- Don't make me upgrade my hardware, at least not much.

- I don't care about ladders and online stuff a lot, so don't sacrifice the quality of one-player games while chasing after the online market share.

- I'd like some element of space. The last one had spaceships, but really, they were just little graphics that hovered at a fixed alititude.

- I never cared for the uber-female character. Didn't like it in CnC, didn't like it in Starcraft. How about a damsel in distress?

- I like managing resources. Don't take it away.

Most of your ideas, I completely agree with, however, I'll add that I'd personally enjoy for many micro elements to exist: just not in the form of god damn heros.

No RPG elements should exist in SC, whatsoever (except in custom made maps, of course).

The thing with micro, is the fact that it varies the odds ALOT more. There are alot more factors applied to the game... so in this way, it won't mean that you'll automatically win if you have superior forces; that aint fun, and the game gets really old after a few weeks of playing online.

I'd also like for some really nifty physics, which could simply become insane if applied correctly. Seeing a unit die, or building explode, in 30 different ways (multiple animations), each with a different scream or BOOM sound, would be pretty awesome too. :P

Dude, I thought that was some sorta political statement, first time I saw it. Then again, my mind feels pretty messed up, so looking at it again... I know what you mean. You're only referring to unit portraits. :P

I agree.. No heroes please. BUT yes, give me improved micromanagement gameplay that is available in Warcraft III (that includes sub-groups that I can tab through and easy-to-use casters that cast 1 spell at a time even if Im controlling more than 1 caster unit).

I do wonder, however, with other RTS games on the market like Warhammer 40,000:Dawn of War, Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, and Supreme Commander, etc.. if Blizzard will take influence from those games in Starcraft 2--like will the camera zoom all the way out to where you can see the whole map, will the game allow for custumizable flags, and will the game allow for only 3 races still or will Blizzard go all out and add more races like the Xel` Naga? Only time might tell.

I suspect that Blizzard will look at the other RTS games out there and then do their own thing that they think will be best for Starcraft.

Remember Blizzard has made some of the best RTS games in History. And Despite Warcraft 3's follies (HEROES!) it was still a good RTS. And Starcraft pretty much wrote the Genre. I really doubt that they will steal elements form other RTS games.

But yeah your best point was not to make it look like WC3. When it looks liek that the ocmputers can't handle enough units for Starcraft.

I think that blizzard should release another expansion pack personally. Add more new units and the hybrids (possibly water fighting) and everyone would be happy. Come on everyone still plays SC 9 years later.

I want them to make a feature where a character can take his weapons off and that it looks like he's unarmed. And when he puts in equipment, it really shows. :D
