I'm looking into buying all three, (looking for a new game to invest in,) and was having a think about whether to buy DoW and expansions or HL2/CS:S. I'm pretty sure I'll get the former, but I was just wondering - as I'm looking for a game with a big online community - is the 40K series dying out, or still going strong?

I see it's played at WCG, but are people still playing it in the same numbers as last year, or is it dying out?

Cheers,

From what I've heard of the DoW community it's active, but a lot of the people who use it are assholes. So if you're used to Battle.net . .

Be prepared for a shock.

Gayspy (Gamespy) is the provider, and since it doesn't bother monitering chat, and wacked service, it may feel a bit more challenging.

Right now DoW is suffering from some balance/bug issues, but there is a big patch coming out that should fix most of peoples complaints. However, these problems are utterly trumped by DoWs amazing game play, and with a little hard work the IMBA's can be beat. Ive been watching alot of reps and necron are far from unbeatable.
Oh, and go ork or gtfo:)

Ork are hard to play at first, you need to like them and get used to them for them to be effective... i'm IG and SM all the way. With a side of Eldar when I feel like it.

Okay, I've bought the "Anthology" (all 3 for £20 = pro). Expect me to be joining you tomorrow at the earliest. :)

Got my copy yesterday, been playing 1v1s with my schoolfriends who have the game as well. They beat me. Lots.

My tag online is HowDoIPlayDoW - and I should be online quite often, usually in the Armageddon channel. I gather there's no remote friend-add command, (ie. you have to be in the same channel,) so camp the channel and friendlist me!

the only problem with online play is that if your a noob, you get beat pretty easily... very

Also, its all go, if you like base building, online play aint for you :( . but meh, thats what I think...
