WoW Fansite Beta Contest!?

I noticed that quite a few fansites have begun offering contests for free WoW beta spots to the general public. I don't suppose that warcraft.org has any of these spots up for grabs yet?

*tear rolls down cheek* No, sadly not :(. Which is why I'm hoping to excel at any competitions warcraft.org might be having so I can slyly pick up a beta pass ^_^.

I've been following WoW for a year now, so a lot of the information has just rubbed off on me ^_^. I also do a lot of work reporting news and running WoW-related contests, so I have to know what's going on at all times.

Just so you know, as I wouldn't want you to get in any trouble, the illegal hacked WoW-servers shouldn't be talked about in these forums X_x.

Blizzard recently gave away a number of beta slots to fan sites. The contests are likely all over now though, as Blizz wanted everyone's information June 11th.

However, some sites could be hanging on to slots for when betas open up in other continents. We decided to use all ours up :).

The majority of active WoW fansites received keys to hand out to the general public. Some sites used them for the contests, as they were supposed to, and some used them for friends and other staff members, which kind of defeats the purpose. I can name about 5 sites so far that did this X_x.

Ah well, we still haven't heard anything from the ORG sites. Did you guys get any keys to hold for a contest?

Not true. Blizzard left it up to the fan sites specifically stating that they could give them to staff or people they just picked.

Ah, I wasn't aware of this. The way that the people in the WoW IRC chats were talking made it sound like they were supposed to go out to the general public. Ah well.
