Ok, Google apparently used to have this on their Google Labs (http://labs.google.com/) site, but then removed it for some reason. However, some on-the-ball people mirrored it...

It's like normal google -- only far prettier. ^_^

http://elliottback.com/wp/wp-content/google-x/googlex.htm (the original, I think)

http://googlex.jayssite.com/ (an upgraded version -- my favorite. ^_^)

Why the hell would they get rid of that?

lame.

text please, not funky icons for services I don't use so have no clue what they are.

Google's main page is supposed to be simple and clutter free. Thats the whole point of google.

Besides, homage to Max OSX my ass. I've never been interested in a dockbar thingy, I've tried it a few times, but it just seems kind of worthless. my small icons in my quicklaunch area works fine.

It has the text above it...

I think it's cool, but Apple might sue them or something over it.

Pretty snazzy. It'd suck if your internet sucks a lot though, like mine at home does.

Stupid wireless..

really old -- from what? three / four years ago?

neo: get a life, not every thread involving computers needs your personal opinion on the advantages of your macless life.

Wow. Really? Then how come I never heard of it...

No -- I've got pretty crappy dial-up and it loads and runs just as fast as regular Google.

I was responding to the little quip at the bottom of one of those pages "homage to Mac OSX"

I don't like using any sort of dockbar thing, considering its not very efficient.

sheesh.

for the record, I would love a mac, just not a desktop one.

besides: google w/style: 6646

For the record, I think that's perhaps the worst OS theme, browser theme, and custom Google theme I've seen.

And yes, it was made as an homage, because surprisingly your opinion isn't the only one out there.

Hey, I have the same OS theme. I think it's sexy.

Actually, that does look rather elegant imho, Neo.
Now now kids, just play nicely and don't turn this into another OS war :P

I also have the same OS theme, in black, however.

Google is fine how it is. :]

exactly, so we got a sexy man in sweatpants and a crazy brown-man living in the outskirts of mormon-land supporting that theme.

That OS theme is the most popular custom theme for Windows XP out there. So your opinion doesn't really matter much in that regard does it? Same goes for my Fox's Naoi theme. Both are the most popular in their respective "fields" (or whatever)

Yeah, I'm a whore, I go with whats popular. Though they are popular for a reason. There seem to be many window's users who live in denial, however, and opt for OSX-Like themes that I find very boring.

What would you consider a good custom google theme? Of the ones available for Stylish, there are only 2 I like, and the grey version sucked, so... I went with blue. Besides I like blue.

Sorry I'm not like others who live in denial and try to have my windows look like Mac's OSX

You lie. :P

I did some searching, and Google X originaly came out on March 16 -- then was pulled the next day. And that's March 16 of last year. So almost a year.

Oo, testy are we ?

I didn't say anything about your opinon on OS or browser theme .. I merely provided my own. I was talking about your opinion of the Google X styling -- which you did provide and were quite negative about.

Excuse me for not finding "the most popular" themes for Windows all that spectacular.. all you have is a slightly stylized version of Royale with vista-esque window stylings.. whoop-de-doo.

I'm not sure how you can tell what my entire theme looks like from a screenshot of a window title and the start menu (am I the only one on this planet that likes to use a doubled up start menu?) =P

And the whole point of the theme is to be based off XP's Luna =P The main reason I like it is that its clean -- nothing is left out, and nothing is broken with it. There are so many themes out there that might be cool... but then they aren't fully themed, or the start menu looks like shit, or whatever.

Besides, I'm not trying to hide the fact that i use XP, you know some of the most popular themes are MacOSX based ones? Thats sooooo strange to me :/

It's not strange, you know what they're lusting after. :P

And yes, it's clearly based off of Luna -- I don't find Luna pleasing in the least, in case you didn't pick up on that.

Oh please. I prefer something with color of macs candy greyness =P

"Oh you run MacOSX?" "Nope I'm just in denial!"

I think it's a neat feature, but as we've said, it's from the mac dock menu. If google ever comes up with a pretty graphical interface they will need to invent something original. But it's cool either way =P
