So I stumbled upon part of an essay that I wrote back in high school about idioms, lolz! It made me laugh soo hard! :)
Prompt:
Scotty Briggs seems to rely on idiomatic language in order to communicate. Identify three contemporary idioms and define them in one paragraph or in a five-paragraph essay.
HOMIE:
The word ‘homie’ can be used in various ways all though it has one meaning. ‘Homie’ means friend or close friend. Here is an example of the word ‘homie’ in a sentence, “Hey homie what’s crack’n?” (Grace) This example shows how the person speaking addresses their friend and asks them what’s up. Another example using the word ‘homie’ is stated here, “That’s my homie g dwag right there man!” (Grace) In this sentence, the person is implying that their ‘friend’ or ‘close friend’ is indeed a very good friend. Another example using the word ‘homie’ is as follows, “Yo homie I went over to my home girl Sheniqua’s last night!” (Grace) Here, the person addresses their friend informing them that they went to another friend’s house the night before. Many young people nowadays use the slang idiom ‘homie’ in a large part of their vocabulary.
CHILL/CHILL’N:
‘Chill/Chill’n’ is another slang idiom that can be used in various ways. ‘Chill’ has two meanings in which one meaning can also refer to ‘kick it’. To ‘chill’ means to hang out or spend time with one another in future tense. Here is an example, “I’m gonna go chill with my homies tonight.” (Grace) In this example, an individual addresses another individual informing them that they will be spending time with their friend at their house that night. ‘Chill’n’ is used as present tense, here is an example, “I’m chill’n with my homies.” (Grace) In this example, this individual is stating that she/he is spending time with and/or hanging out with their friend. There is also another meaning for ‘chill’, in which a person questions another person if it is okay for them to do a certain task. An example of this is given here, “Hey chick, is it chill if I kick it here tonight?” (Grace) In this example, a certain individual is asking permission if it is okay for them to stay and spend time with them for the night. Obviously the idioms of ebonics have formed into new meanings over the course of time.

I wrote this nearly 5 years ago...Wow. I feel old, lolz. I don't have the rest of my essay, but I believe that I then went on to write about the word "Butthurt", lolz! And for some reason I don't have my introduction paragraph...I guess it's on my final draft which I can't seem to find >.<
Oh and I changed everything in paranthesis to my first name instead of keeping it as my last.
