How long do you think Starcraft will last?

Without an expansion or sequel? At the very least another 5 years, possibly even 7-8.

StarCraft won't die for a long long time, it is just too good of a game.

I voted 4 years cuz it was as high as I could go. :shiftyr:
SC won't die for a very long time, and SC2 will make it last another 10 years, not 3.

as long as there are people still talking about and playing starcraft. I will live on forever, but not all games are like it, but if starcraft 2 doesnt come out, Id say for another couple of years until computers get so advanced, they will have to make a sequel for starcraft to survive

Definatley 4+ easy. I hope to see it last longer...so I can finish my mod by then and people will still be around to play it. :)

4, only because the poll is biased and you can't go any higher. In all truth, Starcraft will never die, at least not until CD drives are permanantly put out of use.

the longest the poll option can go to, in other words 4 years...
this game is just too balanced for it's own good :P, it keeps many back in the ages of the 2d rts games :P
sc ftw! lol

Yeah, definately 5+ years. But since I can only go up to 4 years, then I select 4 years.

think about this, and its probably a bad comparison, but hey
Battlefield series is pushing its 3rd title, but the original 1942, still attracts a large group of people, because its just so damn fun to play :D
Yes BF 2 sucked @$$ and the developers hated on the game with a passion, but it just goes to show that the original will always be the best
STarcraft and BW are probably one of the most balanced games ever created, therefore showing that with enough time and patience you can make the "perfect" game. Even if Starcraft II comes out, it will take Blizzard awhile to iron out all the bugs, fix all the exploits, to make the game playable on the scale that Starcraft is Today. As long as Korea features the game as a national sport, it wont die... thats for sure :D

ya ive got faith ive played sc since 2000 (7 years) and still addicting, idk why i put only 4 years max, i wasnt really thinking until after poting this id say about 7 more years if there is no sc2 and 16 years with sc2.
It's not just because i love starcraft but the game has been here for ten years and i think it can last 4 more +
and the fact that it has countless fans who play it everyday verifies that you just can't get bored with it i mean how many people start getting the SC lust after a while and go back to playing the campaign with wide open drooling mouthes? I know i do :D
this poll misses ALOT of options. SC will die after sc2 is released, maybe last a year more, not much after that

Are we saying SC, and SCII are seperate identities? People will be playing BW for a long time to come. There are SO many maps, and more being made constantly. Like everyone else has said, it is such a balanced game. You can't just pick 1 race and have an immediate advantage over your opponent. There is always a way to win. Actually, there are always several ways to win. That's what makes it so interesting.
I do think that BW will die out for the most part when SCII is released, IF SCII meets expectations. I bought the BattleChest back in 2001, and there have been rumors about it even since then. (Side note: The other day I found a replay on my old hard drive from 2001 of a friend and I playing 1v1 on SD Money, the first fast map I can remember. We both had 40> APM) If Blizz makes SCII what it's expected to be, and what it can potentially be, SCII will live on for a decade+ after it's released, and will attract newcomers to SC, and SCBW simply out of intrest in the storyline, although I don't think it would bring any revival to the BW online (if it's dead).
I agree, BW will live as long as it is played professionally in Korea. I expect it to die out once SCII is released as long as SCII is what we are all expecting. (Assuming BW isn't still a sport in Korea lol)

At least you could have a slight sense of humor or exaggeration in the poll and put "SC4EVA!!!11" or something :(
oh well SC2 probably never comes out and all these assumptions and rumors to me is all BS, but SC ghost might one day, be respawned, but that's not really related to our beloved starcraft. It is a legend and a legend it will stay :D
SC's death will vary depending on the price and computer requirements of SC2, if it's $69.99 US and needs at least a 2.4Ghz CPU suggested a 2.4Ghz duo cpu, with sound blaster and latest video cards and a 2 gig ram, SC may last for another 6 years at least cause it's not very easy to move onto SC2, especially if it's a 3D rts, which it probably would be if it is going to be made. If it's like like a really good graphic-ed isometric game with requirements and prices we can all get easily, SC might die in 1 year :P

My guess is 3 years. Hopefully by then SC II will be out, and if it isn't, I wouldn't be surprised if another company made a very good RTS to take over SC's popularity.

i hope starcraft will be around for my childern to play it, and my childrens children, and thier children. u no what forever how about that. though the game is old skewl it will live till the sun explodes and then i hope the aliens will find a copy still playable so they can play it. and it will start all over again. if star craft dies befre that well i cant be held responcible for my actions. i would hunt down every one who betrayed it. thats what i have to say.:_penguin:
