Hi all. I just bought the Battle Chest and installed it, and applied the latest patch, and am having a very strange problem.

I'm attempting to start a new single-player game (it's been years since I last played Starcraft and don't have any saved games anymore). I click single player, select the original Starcraft, and am presented with the screen where I choose from the three races. I click the first campaign and... nothing happens. It beeps when I click it, but it doesn't start the game. I even tried the other campaigns (clicking "Ok" to the out-of-sequence message boxes), but they also do nothing.

Has anyone experienced this before? How do I fix it? I've never seen it do this before (but then that was before Windows XP), so other than installing the latest Brood War patch I don't have any idea what to try next. Help!

The only thing I can suggest is re-installing. I just bought the Battle Chest last week, and installed the latest BW patch as well. I haven't tried the original campaign yet, so I'm not sure if I would have the same problems.

Try re-installing and see if it keeps happening. Sometimes it's just a random fluke that happens.

Awesome! Well kinda.. Because it happened with me too. The thing is that SC doesn't recognize the SC Original CD, at least thats what I think. You can go to SP Original but it cant read the campaigns. It might be due to the sudden update. Uninstall and install only SC, try if it works, without patching to 1.14, then install Brood and see whats the situation.
The idea is to see if its because of the update.

Well, the game doesn't start the campaigns if you run it with the BW Launcher. If you're not running it from the Launcher, then it's likely a program error or something, and I have no idea :P .
