What is normal APM among decent players? Looking at my replays on BWChart, the best I've played was something around 200 I think, the average being more along the lines of 60-100; but I haven't played too many really good players. I know pros have ridiculous APM, like 300-450 sometimes more... but for the people well below that level (me), what is a good number?
APM depends of many different things. That's why it generally doesn't mean a shit unless you got below 90.
ToT)Hullahzu(, one of the best european zergs, has 100-125 apm.
Fisheye[pG], 90 apm average.
TheFazant, 90 apm average
and all of those mentioned are VERY good players. It's all about how much you spam, and how useful all the actions you do are.
I have maybe 130-170 average apm. This guy I know has 400 average apm. Yet I do everything better, faster, and more accurately than he does. Ofcourse playing a game for me with 400 apm is easy, but my gameplay would lose in general if I did that. That's why I concentrate on playing, not spamming, except for the first 1-2 minutes where I warmup my fingers and get my body get used to the speed and fingers to the hotkeys

Yeah Ahzz has got it pretty much right. My average lies between 85-120, and thats usually good enough.

Yes, APMs over 120 just prove how inefficient your opponent is.

I average about 50 hahaha. I've only broken 100apm at a given moment 2-3 times. Still working on it xD

you seem rather contradictory. 50 < 60-100 < 200

He is saying 200 was his highest but normally he is between 60-100. BG I have never seen you over 100 fyi
Edit: I just checked my games. BG, we played around 8 games and your Apm was from 80-95. The only time you went over 100 was in one game where you got 101 lol :P

I'm sorry for the confusion....I meant the highest I played against*. My apologies. The highest I've ever played was 71 against a computer when I was practicing. That game was 9 minutes. My peak APM is 165 I think.

The countless pubies I've played and "examined".. around 50-80 APM for all players.
Actually in Gateway Europe is slightly higher.

Oldy, usa protoss, 60-90 apm, great player.
Testie, canada random, 100-120.
Apm doesn't mean much, but I generaly spam to get more focused in game. If I had a decent macro without spaming, I wouldn't spam at all. My apm is around 200 with zerg and 180 with toss.

Anyone who goes 600 APM for 20 minutes
A. Needs to be a secretary since they probably type 150 wpm haha
B. Probably had no control over their units, since moving 10 times per second would make the screen a total mess to look at.
C. Could probably be pretty good if they slowed down enough to think.

Oh come on, I've been over at a friends house he played Z with 120 APM with no spamming and God is my witness I didn't see anything on the screen, just smudgy creep and some trees:o

Well the reason some of the top korean pros have such a high APM, is because they don't just use the attack button. Like in Terran vs Protoss, the Terran might use his vultures to target on the specific zealots, while using the tank to target each goon one by one to get the maximum out of the time, and splashing ability they have. At the same moment they will be able to macro. To be able to do that you'll need an average apm of 200+ (In my opinion) :/ ..
