Alright, I've decided. Next week sometime I am going to go out and buy a new sc battle chest. Mine is broken.
I never got into serious playing on serious maps, I mostly just fucked around and had a lot of fun with UMS and joining 7v1c games and BSing.
But I want to seriously learn how to play now. I want someone who can tutor me and help me learn the ways of starcraft.
Is there anyone willing?

Most good players won't want to take charge of you, so your best chances are to post threads here about what you need and they'll answer.
I've found out the best way to learn is getting creamed at BN: it will both make you a player with manners and make you learn from your mistakes. When you get creamed though, analyze why that happened and post your problem here, it's no use to get owned continuously because of the same mistake ;)
And lastly, don't play money maps: they won't show you how to expand or use the basic tactics out there.
Advice from a noob :(

Yeah, that's the same advice many others have given me. Play real people on battlenet and, though you may lose, you will learn a lot from your mistakes. I'm just starting to try it out!

And don't mind the tons of morons in there: some guys really don't have manners :(

yeah I can be your tutor but I cant help you too much on that level. Actually I can only tell you buildorders to practise and say "go to www.gosugamers.net and dl replays".
Too much lag i can't play with anyone untill i change my isp:P
oh and Magmaniac i advice you to ask AqoTrooper he's a real help on B.net..Good guy.

What race does Aqotrooper play?
(please not terran, please not terran, please not terran)
BTW, thx for the blue ball :)
yes. Only thing a tutor can do for you know is to recommend you to watch alot of progamer replays closely, especially the beginning part where you see the build orders. Also play alot of 1v1's and ask the tutors when you don't understand something, are unsure about something or something. There's not much else really

I found gosugamers last night, and downloaded a bunch of replays. It's helping me a lot, so I definately back up that idea. Also, save your own replays. When you beat someone or when you get beat. You can see what you did to win/lose that way, and why your strategy/bo worked/failed. Sometimes even when you win, you made mistakes that a better opponent may have taken advantage of.
If you can find someone nice enough, try 1v1ing them and then reviewing the replay with them afterwards.

get penguinplug. btw, what race are you? when you feel your decent, come to op swbk and challenge the people there with a high record(lost, galdstone, salv, ixions/ixions_revenge, yaqoob, proto....) if not, play every1 else :P
When you get done toying with those guys in siege's list, come find ol' GroG. He'll show you what's up.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I usually play toss, terran is boring for me and I hate zerg... but hey I'm open to learn. I'll start doing that stuff once I go out and buy SC again. I only hope my virus'd computer allows me to install it.
Can anyone start me off by giving me some good toss build orders to think about?

start off with carriers, mass 25 of them at the start of the game and rush. lol
It's better to ask this in the tactics chamber.
Depends on how you want to fight, offensive or defensive, rush or no rush, on money map or not. Cause toss are cheap and especially in rush games, you really don't want to go the wrong way.
until you have 6 probes, get pylon, go to 9 probes then gateway, if you are playing with rush, build gate at 8 probes might be better (4-6 ling rush). Then it can vary from pylon, gateway, zealot production OR cybernetics, citadel, archives, DT's, OR, photon cannon massing and expo to other places and slowly prepare for carriers, OR go ground all the way with 2-5 photons as defense for each base, attack with goons/lot(with speed upgrade) and HTs, expo before you attack, most enemy units on the map would retreat back to defend while you have time to warp in a pylon, few cannons, back up with zealots, and when they're done, get a nexus.

Is this advice for fastest map?
If not, making pylon on 6 means you have to postpone probe production a while, and you don't need the psi until you hit 9 anyway, so making pylon at 8 is optimal, as it will give you constant probe production, and still get the pylon done by the time you finished your 9th probe.
, if you are playing with rush, build gate at 8 probes might be better (4-6 ling rush).
Even if he goes 9 pool, you'll still be able to fend him off if you build gateway at 9 psi (and as stated above, you shouldn't have a completed pylon at 8 psi anyway). If he goes 4 pool, and you manage to fend him off, he's dead anyway, more or less.
But you can't really spot earlier than 9 pool, unless you scout really, really early, which would mean delaying probe production. And if it turns out he's not rushing at all (few players seem to rush these days), you've wasted time and money for nothing.
I'm no P expert, but against Z you'll either go the templar path, and secure with some cannons, or go the reaver path, and get obs. Or something in between.

Yeh, I'm just coming up with basic ideas off the top of my head, but it depend's on his fighting style, there's of course, more styles for money maps, mineral starving maps (less than 7 units of minerals next to your base), island maps, or 256x256 maps with 1 other human player, (good for expo, bad for slow units or rushing)

After you play about 20-30 games, post a replay or two here asking for advice. Then try to implement that advice into your next 20-30 games and post another replay asking for more advice.
Oh, and don't listen to advice from Infested_Zeratul.

My folder looks like this...
C:\Program Files\Starcraft\maps\replays
Replace "C" with whatever you use for your hard drive.

How's this for another loophole: I hate zerg bu tam best with them. o_o
with respect to a tutor, i agree with what torry said. You can't get in-game help, but you can get advice when something pops up that you have trouble with. (don't look at me! my advice would stink! e.g. I always end up with the most units, sometimes a win, and the fewest buildings and resources.
I am cool, Blupp. Damn cool.
