A new game of diplomacy has begun.

*Whoop-dee-doo* ... right?

Well, if you are at all interested in observing how a game of diplomacy is played, head over to the Diplo HQ (it's that little sub-forum below Online Roleplaying). An exhibition game is in progress, which means that the players' reasoning and analysis for each turn will be posted. To clarify: everyone is welcome to ask questions about the game in any of the games we have running, but this game in particular is dedicated to both improving current players' understanding of the game, as well as offering aspiring players detailed insight into the thought process of diplomacy players.

Turns will be held every week, so there won't be much action up until the first week of February. There probably hasn't been a better time to learn about the game on these forums, so now would be your best shot.

A direct link to the game is here. (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=24657)

Cheers,

Monty.

Dude, are you serious? He said, there's a diplo thread going on to show everyone precisely how it works and why.

I understand your interest in diplomacy, but advertising in another fourm is against the rules. I got shunned a while ago for doing the same thing for roleplaying, heh.

I'll leave this thread locked however, so people who are interested can check it out.

Stuck, because I said so. Don't advertise again.

If it's stuck, might as well unlock it so people who are interested can discuss.

Lesson learned fellas. :)

I guess we'll see if anyone is interested before letting it drop, but that's fair enough - thanks!

Shorty: Diplomacy is, traditionally, a seven-player game which people often compare to Risk. Players control one of the seven nations on the board, which are made up of supply centres. In all, there are 34 supply centres (SCs) on the board - you need 18 supply centres to force an outright win. Fleets and armies are at your disposal, but you can only have as many units as your supply centres allow. Probably the most enjoyable feature of the game is negotiating with, backstabbing, and manipulating your opponents, all of which takes place as turns go by. The tutorial (which you can find at the Diplo HQ) doesn't really cover the diplomatic arena of the game - hence, this exhibition match.

Heh heh heh. A face-to-face game I recently played had me as Germany, and I was the subject of a zealous attack from Britain, Italy and Russia in the first few moves. "Handling" this thread is somewhat akin to "handling" that game... :)

Advertising is creating threads or posts linking to a web site for personal gain.

So yeah.

Me too. Don't get why it was locked in the first place, and to be honest, it's more useful than some of the trash in this forum.

It's not worth it to discuss it though, so let's stick to the real topic please.
