my comp is fucked up. Im posting from my other one cuz my dell is messed up. ok- here goes.

last night windows update poped up and I installed something from nvidia (my vid card). so this morn9ign I come down and when I turn on my comp everything is normal but right after the XP loading thing (you know, with the green bars going from left to right) which is right before the log-in screen. But when the loading thing turns to black like it does b4 I go to the log-in screen it stays black except for white writing in the middle that says like "Cannont be displayed" or whatever, so I turn off the comp @ the power strip and re-boot. This time a msg comes up that says "Windows XP was not initialized correctly last time, please choose an option. So I picked "Run with last working setting" or whatever. Then it goes to the log-in screen but the quality is all fucked up and grainy. I think, well at least I got to the log-in screen and I can jsut go to the control panel and change it." but when I go to the control panel theres only one quality option (there is ussually more ) and its "Lowest". So I turned off my dell and ran to my mac to post this. If you have any idea whats up please tell me !

Oh yeah, I tried to start in safe mode but every time i hold an F key it says "keyboard error"

I dunno what your problem is, but I can fix this part:

Don't hold down the key until your computer has started booting a little bit. If you hold it down before or while the computer is checking for a keyboard, you will get an error. Wait a little bit, but don't wait too long, either.

You probably installed an incorrect driver for your card. Try logging in and doing a system restore, and getting the latest driver from nvidia's site.

If you can get into XP, doesn't matter how screwy it looks, just download the latest correct drivers for your card, install and reboot.

Windows Update, in its infinite stupidity (dont ever allow it to download drivers by itself), downloaded and installed a bad or incorrect driver for your video card. To fix the problem, it removed the driver, which is why your video display sucks. If you have an nVidia based graphics card, you can download the drivers here (http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp). Install them, restart, and you should be fine.
