I was planning on, well, collecting Warhammer: 40,000K units. And I dont mean for play, I mean for collection. Like sitting on a shelf Collection.
I can already guess this is blaspheumy.

However, I still want to know: What are some of the cheaper and cooler looking kits? I want a mix of all the races, although the Tau look cool, and I have to air on the side of humans to.

Well, in Warhammer 40K there is no such thing as a "cheap" kit as most will be over $20(US) with 1,500 point armies costing a total of over $500. I guess the definition of "cool looking" varies from person to person. This is also considering how it is the collector/gamer who has to assemble and paint the models before they can be used and the paint scheme as well as personalization of models is an important step in making them look good.

The Imperial Guard, Tyranid, and Orks give you the most troops for your money, so they're the least expensive... relatively speaking. There's little to no difference in actual price, but you get more for your money. I collect/play the Imperial Guard myself but that's just me. Space Marines are always a favorite for collections, but really just buy what appeals most to you. Research is always good, regardless of the subject.

Metal models are more expensive but tend to be the ones worth collecting. Daemonhunters and alienhunters tend to look cool but they are both expensive being mostly metal.

I tend to base my armies around cool looking models, it can sometimes mean I have a less than optimum army but it is definitly worth it.

I reckon Necron, Tyranid, and Chaos Marines would be the most fun to paint, and they look pretty cool. Space Marines look good, but I'm not sure how interesting it would be to paint 'em.

Can be interesting since they can be as complex as you like and have a wide array of excellent poses that are possible.

I managed to get a thing of three basic space marines and blue, yellow and grey paint.

well, the price isn't AS bad over there as it is here, but if you wanted to collect models, you should buy the normal infantry squads, not the £5 3-man things.
For me, it's around...
£18 for a generic squad/squads depending on army
£20-30 for any sort of tank/vehicle
£2 for paints
and I've forgotten the rest.

space marines are the cheapest to get an army together. but as i see this thread I am reminded how i have an army of eldar that need selling.

I finaly finished painting and assempling those minies! It took a while cause I lost my paint in a drawer. But I'm done! I now have three space Marines. Any suggestions for what I should get next?(Keeping in mind thier more for looks than play...)

Some Commanders would probably be best for display. Librarians and Chaplains look great. They'll be more expensive that the grunts, but worth it.

If you're feeling ambitious, they also sell Inquisitor Scale Space Marines.

based on pure coolness, get a space marine dreadnought, a sentinal, a wraithlord, or a carnifex.

I always liked the chaos dreadnaught more but you can't get a plastic one.

Try the specialist games for cool models, necromunda has a good source of cool looking models, some can even be converted for 40k.

And if you have a few hundred to throw away mindlessly check out forgeworld, only 160-280 pounds you can get a titan, throw that on your feild without telling your opponent:D For 375 you could get a thunderhawk so nice but you need to win lottery or not have kids:P

I was like you, once. Blew a lot of money on a space marine army. Well, not too much since I got most of them secondhand. That was before I realized I didn't have anyone to play with. I thought an SM army looks pretty cool, especially Assault Marines and Dreds. I got like 3 Tactical squads, 1 assault squad, 1 death company (looks awesome in black), chaplain, commander, Land Speeder (Looks good as well) and 2 Furosio dreds. Now I have to figure out whether to keep or sell.

But as for looks, I would suggest Grey Knights. oh, get a Chaos Defiler if you can, they look really cool. Also try some Eldar units out, if you want. I find most Eldar units looks nice.

Yeah, I went asnd made a list. I think grey knights were on it, although I was realy looking at those assulty squads.
Striking scorpions are cool to.

Aye, the new Scorpions are much better looking than the old ones. Plus, they're quite Predator-esque.
