hi all!
heres ur daily doze of info:

After hinting at new Diablos and Starcrafts, Itzik Ben Bassat says his company's next MMO game will be more "innovative" than its current cash cow; WOW movie still in development.

Last week, Blizzard Entertainment vice president of development Itzik Ben Bassat dropped something of a verbal bombshell. At the London launch event (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6164196.html) for the World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the executive appeared to say the next installments in two of his company's storied series might not be far off.

"We'd like to say to our fans of Diablo and Starcraft that we haven't forgotten we have these franchises," he said. "We cannot wait to be here in a few years, or however long it will be. It won't be a decade, and we'll be celebrating the launch of [the next] Starcraft together." Some took Bassat's comments as meaning that the first Starcraft game since 1998 would be out in 2008. Others thought he meant new games in the franchises would be out by 2017.
Given the success of World of Warcraft--which has 8 million subscribers (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6164082.html) and counting--and the shelving of Starcraft: Ghost (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146675.html), many have speculated that Blizzard is prepping a Starcraft massively multiplayer online role-playing game. However, Bassat has now hinted that Blizzard's next MMO game won't just be a clone of its current cash cow.
"When we announce our next MMORPG it's not going to be another WOW--we're not a company that tends to tread the same ground," he told British film magazine Empire (http://www.empireonline.com/interviews_and_events/interview.asp?IID=620). "It'll be something innovative and new that really brings entertainment to another level." American Blizzard reps delcined to expand on Bassat's comments, although the fact that the company began hiring real-time strategy developers (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6155152.html) last summer might offer a clue.
Though such comments will likely fuel the fires of speculation, Bassat had precious little grist for the rumor mill surrounding the forthcoming World of Warcraft (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6151334.html) film. "Hollywood has its own pace but we're working as hard as we can to push it forwards," he told the mag. "Bringing Warcraft to the movies is the next step for us, we want to let people bring World of Warcraft into other aspects of their lives. After all, we're competing for people's entertainment time, whether it's listening to music, watching TV, or going to the cinema."

First, give us some proof that you work for blizz, which you are implying. Second, I do not believe what game spot has said because they have offered no evidence, such as links and the likes. When we hear this from blizzard entertainments web site Ill start believing.

Hi B.A. Sorry you may have misunderstand me but I don't mention in any of my posts that i'm or i'm not or anything about beeing or not beeing blizzard employee. So please stop taking out of content my posts. If you read carefully you'll see that what i wrote up is taken all from gamespot.
Anyways the event gamespot is talking about is Jan 16th this year at the blizzard WOW expansion launch. Many of WOW and WOW expansion developers were at launch sites one of them beeing Itzik Ben Bassat.
It''s not only gamespot that heard his comment but other media based studios heard it as well and have posted the article! I'm not going to make you a big favour and post you all the links of where similar articles are released about that event but i'll let you serach for it on your own if you really wan't to find if it's authentic!

Although it seemed it at first, BlizzJK isn't trying to imply he's part of Blizz, as far as I know. Anyway, if he were to do so, I'd simply lock the thread. If he was from Blizzard (or pretending to be) he would not post articles from gamespot.

Equally, Blizz'JK' try not to just post and run, give us an opinion or something first.

It's too late for most of us to believe anything. Gamespot has nothing to do with blizzard games, why would it have such an information when scorg, bnet and blizz doesn't? I won't believe anything until I see an official annoucement in blizzard's site or a new section made there.

If blizzard staff didn't come 8 years ago, there's no reason they'd come now.
or *gasps*... ... ... *stares at the K'tan* are you a spy >_>

I Gamespot has nothing to do with blizzard games

No, it has something to do with ALL games :P

Also, I'm no spy. Least, that's what it says on this 'Licence to Kill'

I believe gamespot more than I believe Gosugamers.net(which had an article claiming a COUNTER STRIKE grp had inside information on production of Starcraft franchaise material), because its like IGN, it gets its news from the best sources possible, the actual people who work for the company. You dont need "links" and other stuff because that is the genuine article, from the mouth of a blizzard employee. it can be maimed and shot up simply because no one wants to believe anything from blizzard untill theres an official announcement. I swear Starcraft II has had more hype, and more crap made up about it than any other game Ive ever witnessed into creation!
