Will there be plans to choose between the color/layout of the forums in the hopeful near future? All this white is really burning my eyes ^^

Yes, most definitely. I believe Fenguin has been working on a new theme. In vBulletin, you can select which theme you want in your user CP, so we'll all be able to choose between the themes we want.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at one point in pre-release, wasn't there a theme selector drop-down menu on the main page? Will that come back?

I might redesign it so it's darker soon. But I'm not sure ;)

But he has all the source images for the theme... We won't be able to change anything if we kill him. And I don't think anyone has the time to make a whole new theme.

The default vB theme isn't really that much of an improvement, IMO... Besides, they might have deleted it, who knows.

The vB theme that was up during development had quite a bit of white. Sure there's quote a bit of purple too, but there's also a lot of white, either way the theme is going to be bright-ish.

You want a cookie? the vB theme would be less harsh. It would be better if this white wasnt... white, but like an off white/a couple shades darker you know?

I don't think a light grey (if that's what you're thinking) would be good for the contrast. Maybe if it was blue tinted, but even then, there's not much room for middle-grey usage because it's used so much in the rest of the theme. If it were me, I'd either change it to a darker grey or not at all. I don't tinting would go over very well now that I give it a little thought.

I am talking mostly about the strait white on the main background of the page.

Even this would be nice: #FAF9F9 Which is the color of the "Reply To thread" box area that holds the Title box and the message textbox.

We -could- consider it, I don't think it's in the works at the moment though.

Given the current style I can definately see it as a strong possibility as far as execution goes. I know a lot of people who don't like it as well as a fair chunk that do. I happen to belong to the latter. It was more wishful thinking than anything, but I'm glad it's a possibility, regardles of how low that possibility is.

I'm willing to give anything a go, but I'm growing quite attached to the current postbit layout.

And yes, the grey background is much more soothing that having floodlights shone in my eyes; thank you, Fenguin ;)
