Hi all. for starters i'd like to know what you the starcraft community want!
this is in terms of starcraft 2 battle proportions!
As all of you know starcraft was released in 1998, that year it became the number one selling game in the world. Since then starcraft if still played by thousands players on battlenet. This speaks of how good starcraft really is and how the gameplay and multiplayer are the most important features of any game. Still though it's been 7 years from then and as you know things have drasticly changed. There are 3D games with highly realistic graphics and great special effects and furthermore DX10 is just 2 weeks relativly speaking from now as vista is scheduled to hit stores. this brings a whole new dimension and possibilities for developers and programers.
Now for my question; Starcraft is the starting ground for any RTS games so far but with starcraft 2 in all our minds and the faq that it's been so much time blizzard must/is developing starcraft 2 this question is unavoidable and wil have to be solved sooner or later!
The question is: Would you like to see starcraft 2 as similar as possible with starcraft/BW or would you like to see starcraft 2 that will have largly bigger battle proportions, this meaning a lot bigger maps, more units being abble to be build (300-400), quite a lot of new concepts and ideas put into starcraft 2?
Why is this important? It's important beacose the gaming industry today is a lot bigger that it was in 1998, there are basicly 7 new generations of gamers and much is put on graphics. Standards have been moved and a lot of new concepts introduced. Now if starcraft 2 is made similar to starcraft, there is a big chance of many starcraft fans being disapointed and big chance it will not be accepted by new gamers!
So i want you to take your time before you answer anything and think about it! How would you like to see starcraft 2!

Bigger maps would only be practical with improved transportation options.
For instance, a Terran Ground Transport that could carry 8 rines could be good. The rines could fire out the sides of the vehicle, like a movable bunker.
Of course, this would have to be balanced with similar Zerg/Protoss options as well.
But more supply would be fantastic. Also, larger map capacity would be great. When the map Maxes, it really irritates me.

Pretending to be a Blizzard evaluate/employee is bannable just so you know. Please don't do so. Unless you're just trying to be "cool" or I misread.

sorry I may mis-informed you but i did not claim or pretend to be or not to be a blizzard employee. I've wrote at least to me a clear question.
If you feel capable of answering it that would be great and retain from posting further mis-leading or out-of-topic posts please, as that is also suspendable from my knowings.
thanks

:o
NOOOO! Not vista! vista has A: Crap Security
b: Anti-Pirate software, so goodbye gameimages and homemade movies!
C:requirements that will need about 700mb of memory just to boot
D: No support for Directx9 or below, so say goodbye to your old games (like Fear, COD2, UT2k4, Etc)
So therefore, until someone hacks vista then I MIGHT grab it... XP FOREVER!
Also saying that its a possibility for developers and programmers says that the Developers and programmers might have to create 2 versions... one for xp and vista (due to the DX10 being intergrated into Vista and might not be any download for it)
Frattimonde has a point, it does initially sound as if you are trying to sound like a Blizz employee. Upon re-reading, I realised that's not necessarily the case but your tone is a but authoritative. You may want to watch that, if you seem to be pretending to be from Blizz you won't be received warmly.
To be really pedantic, StarCraft didn't start of the RTS genre, Command and Conquer did.

dude, seeing as we can't change what SC2 will be like....
what you mean is what do we HOPE it will be like,
and its still kinda pointless.
i think the majority of sc players
(and about 95% of the better ones) don't even want SC2, which i gues also translates to wanting it to stay the same as much as possible. really all they'd ask for is another expansion pack style thing. if you don't believe me go on some other sc fansites.
not that we won't all buy it anyway.

My opinion is, that SC2 should be in terms of gameplay as much like SC as possible.
Of course the new unit stuff is ok as long as it stays balanced. I'm thinking about new unit integration like in BW. The new ones fit perfectly into the gameplay, and gameplay is exactly what SC is best at!!!
I say SC2 won't be needing a rotating camera, or maybe not even 3D graphics. Balance is what matters and of course the fantastic stroyline started in SC Original. StarCrafts' true power is in it's simplicy. And thats why people are still playing it as an actual sport with worldcups and stuff .There aren't any unneeded extras like in most of the RTS games nowadays. This game is PURE STRATEGY. In conclusion I think making SC2 a shiny 1654327563547 polygon per object, camera flipping freakshow -like they did with WC3- would be an awful mistake. Of course tis is only my opinion.
Plague you all...

Um.... Yeah. What now?
Pwned.
Anyway, I actually don't want anything changed in SC2. Maybe just keep the story moving forward? No 3-D, no new units, no new races.

Starcraft is pretty perfect as it is. I would want to just keep the story moving, add a couple new units, and make it 3d. Of course, I wouldn't want it to look like wc3, that just doesn't fit SC. SC has a grittier, less blocky look, that I think most of us would want preserved.
lets just wait and see how starcraft 2 will be like..

How 'bout, the fact that merely fast drop-ins behind an enemy's mineral supply line isn't the case for every single damn map out there. Sure, some maps could be massive, however it should bring about the idea that defending your transport with a fleet really does matter, and can seriously benefit. A game could end up focusing entirely on this. In SC2, added features might make this a viable and profitable option. A fun one, too.
Don't ask me how, though. :P
