View Full Version : What features should SC2 have?

Just for the sake of keeping things nice and organized, and not posting the same or related ideas over and over again, let's just combine them into a big ol' thread like this.

In StarCraft 2, I'd like to see the following:
- Multiple angles
- A new race or two
- More terrain options
- Unique abilities for the new race(s)
- Zoom

In my opinion, the 'Xel Naga should definitely play a role in SC2. They were introduced in Brood War but were never really elaborated on. The hybrids will most likely play a large role in SC2 as well, so it may be possible to play as them. The hybrids should have some cool Zerg-Toss abilities (like instead of mind control, have the ability to infest other units).

So post yours here!

A new race would ruin the the game, two new ones would make it unplayable/unrecognizable.

Look at the link, its a post of mine briefly explaining why. If you want a longer explanation you can search my posts, I say it at least once a month.
3 races is plenty, there is no need for a fourth, go play wc3 if you want four races.

Speaking of what happened in WarCraft, only campaign races would be very nice, help with the story, I wanna see the Xel'Naga, not keep hearing about them. It wouldn't effect actual melee games or anything. Both people are happy no?

I don't know. The Old Ones are never explicitly shown in 40K, as far as I am aware and that hasn't harmed the game in any way shape or form. That's probably because the Old Ones would have been crappy fighters.

Just like the Xel'Naga. I seriously doubt all this specualation about the Xel'Naga being uber-powerful.

However, I would not mind, say if Zeratul stumbled upon the last survivors of the Xel'Naga race and they had tea and biscuits, or something. I don't want them to play a major part though, personally. This is partly because of the amount of n00bs who dive head in and scream : "OMG! Zel'Naygas would be awesomes and IMBA! lolololololol!"

So, yeah, creeps/critters, not a playable race while I still breath :D

B.A.Baracus... wtf? Why would it make it more difficult? It would add something new to Starcraft... you wouldn't expect the same stuff in SC2 with the excuse that just because of the extra graphics that SC2 is better than SC1! Think War Hammer 40k Dawn of War... the many different races make the game more interesting and makes you think alot more... unless your implying that you cant handle it...

Indeed, but atm DoW is horrifically imbalanced. Also, the race would have to fit in the SC universe. It's quite hard to think of something that fits well.

define "horrifically imbalanced" I play it, and I like it(most of the times) I know its not a perfect game, but what did u find wrong with the game?

Necrons, Tau Krootox, Tau Vespids, Landspeeder Rush, Zerk Rush, How IG are underpowered to name but a few. Check Relic Forums.

I honestly love the game. It is not, however, balanced. Fortunately, Relic are good for patching games, so it will soon be fixed but it's very hard to blabance that many races, much harder than Shorty has implied. Every race you add makes it exponentially harder because of the large amount of match-ups you add.

Ktan is doing all the work for me:)
Anyway, alot of us covet starcraft's melee play over ums or campaign, and a new race would certainly make balancing the game strenuous. The three races already have soo many characteristics, so what would the new race be?
-Secretive and highly advance? toss
-Ravenous and unyielding- zerg
-Just trying to survive with the recourses at hand -that one loser race I cant recall the name of ;p

What I'm getting at is a new race has no place in starcraft, we are used to having 3 very different yet balanced races. Not 4 or 5 simple ones who are all alike. All the buildings, spells, units, and traits that would have to be thought up for a new race could be added to the current races making the game oh so deep.
I wouldn't mind seeing a new race in the campaigns, like hybrid or whatever, but thats about it. I remember writing a page long post on why there shouldn't be a new race, If I ever find it Ill link to it.
Read ktans posts, he explained it nicely.

To be fair, given time, it could be balanced. DoW one day, I'm sure, will be balanced. I haven't experienced many of the IMBAs personally, mainly Necrons and Tau Krootox I've been victim of, but these complaints aren't by people going, 'I lost! IMBA!IMBA!IMBA!'

My issue would be, would a 4th race fit in, characterisically? I agree with BA: give the existing three shiny new toys and cool new characters. Look at Supreme Commander, that's settling for three races. Same with CnC3. Holy Trinity, ftw. Therefore, not expanding the number of races will not cripple SC II.

SC doesn't have the luxury of being able to cherry-pick a gazillion races from a 20-25 year old table-top game. DoW has. (part of the reason I wuv it sooo much :P)

well I havent played the Dark Crusade expansion(yet... im poor) so I know nothing of those things, the landspeeder rush sounds the same thing as the wartruck rush O.o and wtf is the IG?

Ktan

Imperial Guard. Landspeeder rush is due to the fact you only need on T1 building (ie, Barracks or Armoury) to get to T2 and the Machine cult.

Anyway, let's get back to SC II :P
