First off, i had to erase everything off of my harddrive cause i had to reinstall the win 98 software. Ok heres my problem: I just recemtly install stardraft, and i can make a patch and everything, but when i go to run the patch, it always comes up with Patching failed, Storm.dll is wrong version, or something like that. Now what version of starcraft do i have to have to run it? I just installed version 1.07, and this is on my old comp where i dont get internet. So, is there another copy of Storm.dll i have to dl? and if i do, where can i find this file?
To run that mod' patch you must have the same SC and/or BW version as the mod was made in. For that you'll have to go here (latest game patch) (http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=msc0411p) n' get the updating files you need. That, or get ol' ones from SC.org (http://starcraft.org/downloads/patches). ;)
And btw, welcome to our humble fan abode. :)

Wow, this is amazing. This is the one of the first question I asked when I came here. And I became a professional modder um...well after. Hope the same goes to you too. :)
StarDraft cannot work after patch 1.07, so being the patch right now is 1.14. The Storm.dll is working as it's sapposed to...kinda, but StarDraft is obsolete, that's the problem.
First off, new comer, try checking out the » StarCraft Maps and Mods FAQ / Resources Guide (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=13285), it answer a lot of question and it has links for the latest up-to-date modding tools.
Use DatEdit (http://starcraft.org/downloads/CustomsDownloads/Beginners/DatEdit%201.1d)for making the *.dat files. Use WinMpq (http://starcraft.org/downloads/CustomsDownloads/Beginners/WinMPQ%201.62)to put the .dat file into your new mod, and finally use MpqDraft to run the WinMpq (http://starcraft.org/downloads/CustomsDownloads/Beginners/MPQDraft%201.01)mod. If you notice, it really isn't so much different from using StarDraft, but all the tools are now seperate.
If you need more informative instructions, check out the Creating Your First Mod (http://starcraft.org/customs/CustomsTutorials) in the CustomsTutorials page in StarCraft.org.
And welcome to Warboars, TheLaw118.

Just to make sure we're all on the same level...
We are talking about StarDraft and not StarGraft, right ?

rofl, is that why you havn't been on msn or B.net in ages? :smirk:
As for your problem you might want to replace (after backing up) your storm.dll with the origanal one that's located in INSTALL.EXE on the SC/BW game disc. To open install.exe you'll need to use WinMPQ and UED77s listfile. Both of which are located in the Maps and Mods Resource Guide (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=13285).
Oh and Nomad, will you please lose the blue text. It's getting rather annoying. and it makes your posts look n00bish.:P
Whoever the heck payed everyone to advertise UED's listfile so incredibly much? It's got hundreds of more unknowns than Ladik's (http://www.zezula.net). Stop using inferior files!

SK>Just for clarity - the latest StarDraft release was for patch 1.08. Latest StarGraft was for patch 1.07.

Although I use that reference list and advertised for it's use around here, I happen to respect UED' a lot (particularly for the time and what gave to the community). He was one of the 1st to start breaking the then unknown *.mpq archive format, hence the respect I think he is earned for (as in, expanding boundaries to all of us, either in mapping or modding alike).
There are plenty of ways to phrase it, many of'em more nicely and imo you should've used those. :P

First off, I forgot to supply the link for MpqDraft (http://starcraft.org/downloads/CustomsDownloads/Beginners/MPQDraft%201.01).
Here are some pics if you need to see what your supposed to do. Along with more details.
#1 Modify your units using DatEdit/Arsenal II and save the file as unit.dat ( if your modifying the units, weapons.dat for weapons, etc..). #2 I suggest you put it in an easy place to find. #3 Create or open a WinMpq file and drag the .dat file into the WinMpq list. WinMpq will ask you to put add a text in the beginning of the name. Put 'arr\' and press ok. #4 It should look like this now. #5 Use MpqDraft to select and run the Mpqfile, this will launch the mod into StarCraft. hf.
