Who would you want to have singing in/or making music for starcraft 2?
Name the Band that you see Fit for such a part.

Humpty Hump/Shock G & Digital Underground.
Nothing would be better then a lurker push while listening to the humpty dance.

Dragonforce.. Hellz yeah. Some of the songs are like the perfect for slaughtering lil towns of insignifcant Terrans. XD

Any faced paced stuff would work though.. but it can't all be loud and fast... "The ears! They Bleed!" so they should have some traditional slowish SC style musics too IMO.

Ktan
01-09-2007, 5:44 AM
It should really be original music, not the music of a current band. It's just better if it's done that way.

I would like to hear music made by korn as heavy metal would be good for such a game.

PLEASE! PLEASE DONT MAKE BLIZZARD DOOP TO EA'S LEVEL! DONT MAKE THEM BEG OTHER PEOPLE TO MAKE THEIR GAME MUSIC! Seriously, they should make their own music like they have done for ALL of their games, unlike Electronic Arts...

I can't agree more, Shorty.

Tael_Zenith
01-11-2007, 4:43 PM
I suppose I can agree to that too... But I still stand by that it needs some faster paced actiony music... Maybe that kicks in when your units come under attack?

I'm thinking Techno/Electronica for the Protoss. Heavy Metal for the Terran (None of that Black/Death metal junk -_-) and... Hmm... Synthesizer for the Zerg?

But again, Bands go out of sytle, or some of the audiance will get fed up with hearing the popular band music 24/7 so it's best to have originals.

...Still Prepare for War.. is such an awesome song for SC..

Shortyland05
01-12-2007, 4:35 AM
why not code the music according to the action?

like when your just building and acuiring resources = slow music
moving to attack = upbeat music
full out attack or defence = hard out fast beat music...

Well, y'know they could have a fun little song by one or two bands... maybe two little songs that happen to each be written by a different already too famous band, just as a joke or a fun thing. If your looking for the actual music for SC, then that's a definite no... Blizz would have to go original, and hire composers like they usually do.

As for the 'simply too famous' bands:
-SoaD
-Offspring

Those are the only 'too famous and well known for everyone to recognize' bands that I can think of right now... they'd also kinda fit for a humorous rock song that still happens to sound great in the SC universe. This would NOT be the oridinary game music. Remember that fact, because I know that people never do.

These one or two songs would be similair to the song that you guys might've seen in Warcraft 3: TFT. Except for the fact that ppl would appreciate it more if it was band that was already famous and wasn't simply made by the company itself. Trust me... they'd say "Hey that's actually really funny that Blizz got them to do that!". :P
And also die-hard fans of those bands would get embarrassed. XD
So either way, it'd be awesome.

EDIT: Stem doesn't sound Terran at all. It sounds more like something out of a 'Metroid' game for super nintendo, or the new one for Wii. Well... maybe in a metal kind of way. Bah, if they had that music, they might as well make it for the Xel Naga. Only I imagined the Xel Naga to feature music that's even more exotic and mysterious then the Protoss music could ever be. Except both types of music would still sound as good in their different styles. It's just that Xel Naga would be even more mysterious; probably really trippy, strange, and almost eerily scary.

Bah, I can't think right now.

Bah, I can't think right now.
I get those days... Btw are you telling me no one wants to hear a band playing for a game? ok i think i get the picture that sc2 would be better off with Blizzard doing it's music but i really get excited for a game if a band i know plays some music for it...

please please listen to yourself!
Blizzard heavent done any of the music in the previous game. Blizzard is game developing studio, not a music studio. So all the music in other blizzard game is done by hired artists or music studios!
anyways some techno music should fit starcraft 2, althugh the music will be instrumental pop!

SolidSamurai

Yeah, they have hired composers. Some of them are more famous (for making music with this company) then others. Go ahead and read up on it.

Instrumental pop freaks me out, unless of course that's what you'd call the original music (now that I think about it, it probably is).

And anyway, I was saying Blizz is better off with original music made by semi-anonymous composers (that's the best description I can think of right now), rather then simply the incredibly famous bands. However, I was thinking it'd be a fair jolly good joke if they added some humorous music created by bands well known throughout society as well internationally. These bands could mostly be rock bands, ie. Offspring and SoaD.

I already mentioned this, but it didn't seem to register. >_>

I think i've heard of DragonForce, arent they the swedish rock band that did a song for Halo 2?

The guys who did the music for Age of Mythology. They are pimp shiznit.

Yes, i love the AOM music, it fits in with the setting so perfect. Espcially when you are attacking a Town Center of Fort, they play the theatrical music that gets your adrenaline running. (Ack so many spelling errors)

Personally, i wouldnt mind Blizzard hiring a band or two to do songs for them. A song with lyrics wouldnt be bad for the credits and cinematics. Maybe even that LOTR music stuff when you reach a climax part of a game. (Like Stukovs death in the orignal)

Hm, I really like some of the people who did music for the Super Nintendo. I mean, Donkey Kong Country 2 and Starfox really had great music. David Wise was the one who wrote the beautiful Stickerbush Symphony, for the vine levels in D. Kong. Nice stuff, there, as long as he stuck with more dramatic stuff and not so much goofy monkey stuff. :D

Hm, original music probably would be the best though. Hey...Glynnis Talken, the woman who voices Kerrigan, is married to a guy in a band. It would be cool if he wrote something for the game.

I say Blizz keep making their own music. I don't want to hear heavy metal anyday. Keep to the traditional SC themes and I'll be very happy. :)

One neat feature would be battle and assault music. The music would change to something a little more fast paced (like the Halo battle theme) when two large groups of units fight (might even improve people's micro :P ). Then the assault music would be a change when an army is fighting in an enemy base.

Y'know, it'd be funny if SoaD did a song for this game that protested about how addictive WoW was up until *insert release date* and how much it fuggin sucks. It'd sound like all their other political songs (which is pretty much every song they've ever written anyway).

Ragnarox
02-04-2007, 7:58 PM
I've gotta put Frank Klepacki on the roster for this one. Him and David Arkenson, they used to work for Westwood Studios before EA assimilated it. They developed almost all of the Command & Conquer soundtracks by themselves.

Frank Klepacki

Best. composer. EVER.

I actually think his style would compliment SC quite successfully. I believe he's still working too. Here's hoping Blizzard have listened to the old C&C music recently

I think custom music would do fine, otherwise, here's my list:

Alice in Chains
Queens of the Stone Age (their faster songs)
Some heavy classical shit.
Nine Inch Nails
Rammstein.

They were originally a Clubbing DJ group until a record company saw them and signed them up... they could probably do a Starcraft themed album for the SC2...

I'm sorry but no, dance music would be an awful choice for an RTS. There's no quiet lulls and no build up.

Shortyland05
02-13-2007, 10:31 PM
but hey! They made a Chill out CD with their album 'Experience' (Cd was called 'The Karma'). So I reckon that they could do the quiet stuff with quiet bass...

They do dance music? So guess no point in checking them out? Well how about a heavy metal band? that could do for the Terrans right?

I'm a fan of them coming up with a custom made score and soundtrack. It would be cool(If improbable) if blizzard hired Nobuo Uematsu to write the music.

The more integrated the music is, the better.

I would personally like to hear the music composed by Jeff van Dyck in SC2. The guy made the music for Rome - Total War which got awarded several times and also created sound tracks for various games. If you're curious about his music, just google it :)

Ktan

Yes, his music is pretty good. Not sure that it'd go very well with SC, personally, but it's good nonetheless.

I would be strongly in favor of Mushroomhead for the terrans. SOme of their songs could even be considered heavy metal, but they fit death metal more.

Zenox

It' strange but i feel Death Metal for Zerg And Heavy for Terran Classical For Protoss correct me if 'm wrong :P

SolidSamurai
03-15-2007, 6:18 PM
Terran - Punk, Jazzy Rock, 'Space Rock', Techno

Protoss - Symphonic, 'Monk'

Zerg - Metal, 'Slow Metal' (lead guitar rifts, similair to the first rifts you hear at the beginning of a match with zerg in Brood War), Hard Rock, Black Metal

Xel'Naga - New Age, Techno, 'Monk', Alternative Rock

Hybrid - Metal and Techno combination, Grind, Wedge, Power Metal

Freds/Demons (if we were to have demons) - Death Metal

Fresh Youngster Blizz Employees on Strike (for having Blizz not kiss their asses enough, and actually choosing to release StarCraft 2) - Rap, Disco, Red Carpet Music (or the music that usually comes with some homosexual host(ess) on a show prone to revealing celebrity gossip)

The Feminoids - Pop Rock, Fruity Punk

The Entropic Guard - Russian Soviet Red Army Music, Soldier Bellow Music, that depressing music that gives you the feeling of 'all is lost' from the movie 1984

The End, people, The End!

Razorstorm

Here are a few songs by Mushroomhead

Sun Doesn't Rise (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iuz2wVK9cxY)

I think Mushroomhead would be pretty cool for StarCraft

Razorstorm

WTH is mushroom head and why would it be approtiate

Mr.Bad
03-19-2007, 2:41 PM
Mushroomhead is a heavy metal band. And, as many people believe that the terrans and zerg should have a metal theme, they are appropriate. Mushroomhead would be less appropriate for the terrans, as Mushroomhead is more melodic, and the terrans should have a thrash metal type theme. I do think that Mushroomhead would fit the zerg well. Although I don't think existing songs should be used, and mostly non-vocal tracks should be used, because the music shouldn't be to distracting from the game, and lyrics are harder to ignore than instruments.

Angelofdarkness
