if blizzard put different shaped mouths, eyes, noses, mustaces, beards, skin colours, n all that so the computer could generate a random face each time you build a unit so no 2 ppl would look the same in a lvl, this would take an extremely long tome to do n stuff but think about it:_penguin:

you spelled time with an o. There is no excuse for that.
I will add its not a bad idea, different looking troops would be cool. Would this apply to ships and inhuman infantry as well?

Medieval 2 Total War does that, and it only took 2 years to make that game.

That seems like a good idea GJ. It would be nice if they did do that. They most likely won't of course, but it would be nice.

That'd be a pretty cool idea. Downside I can see is the game taking a LOT more HD space (depending on how many/how detailed different avartars there are) than it normally would take if they'd just left it with the basic unit. Also, IIRC a bunch of other units have their faces blocked from view.
I would like to see different looking units, as it would add to the realism of the game , and about the HD Space if SC2 required more disk space i am willing to buy an additional Hard drive , as nothing will stop me from Playing it once it comes. But there's something that comes to my mind.. Different looking units should be applied to the Terrans and the Protoss alone i can't see a reason to apply them for the Zerg as they are all same looking creatures with no distinguishing features right? that would save time and HD space..

True, but considering how big most games are now a days it may not actually be that much.
Kong, how much space does Medieval 2 take up? That's bound to have many more units than SC 2 ever will.
I think it would be a good feauture so long as there aren't dramatic changes between the units. A mustache here, thicker eyebrows there, darker skin maybe... But if you differ the looks of two marines too much, there could be soncufsion during a heated player vs. player battle in which you'd ask exactly WHICH unit you are selecting.

What if u had 2 Jim Raynors in an UMS map? Will we have 1 ugly jim and 1 normal jim? Just a thought. But it would be nice. And Catis, about the WHICH unit you are selecting, they just add a different background for each unit or something. like the Marine has Armor that cannot be mistaken for, say, a firebat. And plus, most units have special traits. Like ghosts have NO reason to be mixed up with any other unit. But ghosts dont really need a custom portrait.. you cant see their faces in the beginning :P.
Anyway.. What about some stuff from 40k? Like the custom armies. That would be awsome. Eh.. not really :P.
What about if their actual armor from normal view would have small changes? If they give it the stupid feature of zooming in on units, some marines should have "Bite me" on them and some offensive language and whatnot. Little dents in their armor would be nice.
What would be pretty funny is that they either run out of ammo, break their claws, break their generators for psi, or break/jam their weapons. So then they run in circles and scream. Heh heh. But no. Still, it would be funny.
But really, the portrait idea is cool. How about some different nationalities? ASIAN PRIDE!!! And i wanna see a trash talkin' black man. That would mean extra sound files.... Oh well...

i thought of something more for the vetarens would have like scratches on their armour n stuff plus peices missing if they make it 3d n the ghost may somtimes have like no night vision goggles or helm or something so you cand see his whole face but bits n peices and the reason i spelled time with an o is because i was typing fast to answer the jim raynor question there cant be 2 people with the exact same face on 1 map:_penguin:

if they did the faces then they would have to do the voices as well, like how creepy would it be clicking on one marine (black) having a deep voice, then you select another marine (white, seeming small) having another deep voice. Really! What would you do if you walked down the street hearing every man sounding exactly the same!

Why must the black man have a deep voice? Are you saying all black men are undertoned barbarians? And all white men are small weakling sissies? I must say I disagree.

I wasn't implying that... I was just making an example. (if that makes any sense)

Ok I'll cut to the chase... we don't need extra sound files first off, rather we may simply include more voice-bites with each unit. One unit could easily have up to 80 unique sounds. As for realism such as dents in armor, etc. I don't see that happening, except in pre-customization which may or may not be incorporated. If we were to incorporate enough advanced physics however, then dents in buildings could be a possibility, as well as units flying back or exploding in a certain way depending on the amount of punishment they took or 'force' or 'heaviness' of the attack directed on them.
Unit random portraits can also be a possibility, however it would eventually come down to 300 avatars at the most for each unit, even then it'd take some harddrive space if the faces were to move in a certain way according to their individual portrait. As for heroes, simply assign a single avatar to them, because they're heroes. Heroes such as Raynor or Kerrigan. If Blizz wanted to make them more heroish, they could be integrated with additional facial movements to make them stand out from the simpler randomized portraits of each unit. This includes faceless units; ie. Ghosts could have a white mask, a black mask, a gas mask, army fatigue vests with bush covered faces (similiar to ghost recon, or say, RL ie.), or even show a face, or perhaps; here's a thought; sexy female ghosts (gasp!).
Other then these things, I didn't really read much of what you said (despite having quoted the entire thing); because you had the tendency to ramble on, not to mention the fact that you repeatedly contradicted yourself as if you were having some sort of a schizophrenic debate with your keyboard.
I'd also mention that, aside from the other junk, much of what you mentioned yourself has been discussed before in seperate topics (I read 40k custom armies somewhere in there).
Finally, in response to the person who made comments on unit confusion, not to many online SC gamers pay attention (or even rely on for that matter), the portrait of a unit. They simply recognize what it looks like on the battlefield. It should be made obvious that a firebat shoots fire, ie. It should be made obvious that a goliath has a single pilot and not two... lol, I'm kidding, but it should be made obvious that the goliath is a goliath. I'd also like realism, lots of gore, etc. I don't give a rats tail for offensive language on every individual piece of 'rine armor, unless offensive language happens to be spoken; then it has some meaning, despite being offensive and generally looked down upon in society. :P Realism seems like a key factor graphic wise, movements. Speed, and how deadly it looks when you slaughter your fellow zerg/marine/toss-warrior.
EDIT: As for the screaming and the running. This is where cheats come in. The cheats that are actually fun for the game. A cheat like 'Glory is Bull'.
