im practicing my terran placing, this is a map i made today, could you guys post some feedbeack on my terrain and doodad placing. the minerals might be a bit sloopy.
so plz post feed back so i can improve :)

Think you kinda overdid it with the doodads. What I mean is, you placed say close quarters (14x14 area) with 3-4 doodads, then about 4 more close quarters with nothing in them, then 1 more close quarter with 3-4 doodads.

Also, the brushing. You did a lot of simple 1-brushing of rocks or grass, no tracing lines. It is not necessarily a bad thing, but it seems as weird as having one circle used in photoshop next to the drawing of an angel to symbolize the aura. The aura should look beveled, 3D-perspective etc. you know ?

Resource placement, I'll skip, since you asked to not take it into account. The exp idea is interesting, but having it inside basically means no expanding outside the base. I am not a fan of boxing in or turtling in tbh. As for the center exps, they look nice but it seems the roads will be blocked by HQs (center, hatchery or nexus), especially with the additional doodads there.

I did a small example of how I think a better placement would be. You can use it, take it into account or discard it, it's ok. It doesn't look as well as I wanted it to, and a bit close spaced, although it is in reality quite large, but that's just cos I did it in 5 minutes or so just to show the example's idea. You'll also see how I did the rocks, mud and grass to not make it seem like it's just one patch and that's it along with more dispersed yet not overcrowded (I hope) doodad placement.

(Again, don't criticize my example too much, since it is just an example :P)

It looks really neat, it really does. Just keep in mind people needs room to build though. Like the doodads in blue's base is ruining some of his space.

Doodads in bases... ergh... You also need more expansions and tile variation.

I thought it looked pretty good. Your main problem is that you have like a single square of rocks, etc. You need to make the terrain a touch more natural.

In the middle of the map, you might need to widen the river slightly because it looks a little to close, Terran might be able to tank enemy workers. Haven't play tested it yet, sorry. Let you know when I do.

Make the grass and rocks cover a larger area but don't make big squares, make them weird shaped to look more natural. Reomve 2-3 of the doodads right around the start locations. They get annoying if the player like to build compact bases, though with a little micro, you can use them to help win early battles.

Mains have a hell'a lot of minerals, I don't know if you meant that or you just got carried away. All the starts have different amounts, make sure to keep all the mains even in resources.

Overall the maps pretty good, you know HOW to make a map, now just polish up your skills with terraining and doodads and listen to all your feedback. You've got a nice idea with the overall design, just keep practicing. Often I will start and "finish" a map then find ideas that other people used and add those in sometimes, makes it more interesting.

Right now it's a 7/10 from me, add in the all the feedback from me and everyone else, and this'll be a 9/10 from me. Which is higher than most maps I've seen here, good luck! :)
