I would be very interesting to see Blizzard implement something like a random map generator. I would allow for an equal playing filed considering no one would really know how to correctly play the map, this would create some interesting on the fly strategies.
Map generator options like:
Map Size
Resource Abundance
Tile Set
Preset Map Variables (Islands, King of the Hill, etc...think Age of Empires Map Gen)
Starcraft really needs something interesting to spark up the lives and the dead bet horse that is BGH and Hunters. I miss the good old day sin 98' and 99' when people would actually play a wide array of map types.

It should also include the editing of land to hills to water to etc ratios that are editable to the user. Oh and critters, you can't forget critters! And doodads, too.

Actually, I think it wouldn't be too hard.
You know all those Random Defence maps, Random Unit warz, no one game is similar to eachother.

Dude, it's about the same level of programming as a random number generator? Those things even come on free domains I believe.
I mean holy shit, I'm sorry but seriously...
Good thing your banned before I even knew about you.
EDIT: Actually, what I was talking about only included maps that already existed (it'd choose between those) rather then a map that's instantly created. Of course, this'd be quite a bit more difficult, but it still aint that hard. I mean, they've got several things working together in cohesion such as resources to units you can buy, supply limit, etc. That requires an algorythm to cooperate properly, and this would too. They could easily do it if they already have all that other graphical stuff I mentioned awhile ago such as advanced physics in an RTS. :P

like mabey you would be able to start with liek a small army of the basic units for the race u have liek but it would be liek the game um... fuck wuts it called... uh ... oh yeah stronghold the more men u start out w/ the less resources you start w/ u no but is would be liek sort of a rip off of that game though but then again who the fuck plays stronghold its a shitty so no1 would notic:_penguin:

A random map generator without premade maps isn't so hard. Tiberium Sun has one and it's pretty damn good. You can set the amount of something from 0 to 100. That something is: water, hills, cliffs, vegetation, tiberium fields and a few more.
I'd image that nowadays making something like that wouldn't be much of a problem.

Of course. Like I said, ppl.
And anyway, employing the same or a similair start off strategy as 'stronghold', wouldn't violate copyright or even 'rip-off' (mostly considering only a few of the most skeptical or preteenish or autistic might point it out). The only way that'd happen would be if Blizz said "Oh hey, let's steal all, or most, or some, or one of the characters from this game SolidSamurai's never heard of before, called 'stronghold' or some shit. That'd be cool. I mean, sure we're realising this'll probably blatently violate the copyright of whatever other company made that game. It'd be pretty obvious too, but then again we're just saying this as an example to back up SS's statement, so yah."

a random map generator would be pretty awesome, I used the one on Tiberian Sun and it was great- there were lots of options for map types, for instance "archipelago" created a map full of islands. of course there were lots of other parameters- I loved that thing, Tiberian Sun had so many great ideas, too bad it was just completely unbalanced as are most Westwood RTS games.
and I'm not sure what the atmosphere is like at Blizzard, but it might not be very easy for them to swallow their pride and admit that their map-making expertise isn't *always* necessary for a good multiplayer experience.
