Hmm..a mouse problem.

Perhaps one of you will be able to figure out what the problem is with my mouse.

Pretty much, a single click is a double click. I check the Mouse options in my Control Panal and I do not see anything diffrent or set for it to be double clicking with just a singal click. This is makeing things very frustraiting.

I think I found what you need to change. It's the bottom frame under the first tab of Folder Options. There are two radio buttons: one for single-click opening, and one for double-click opening.
