what program do I use to change the supply max, if at all possible?

Not possible atm ;)

There was a download on staredit.net that raised the supply max with a plug-in (i think?), but the site is down currently.

You could possibly give every unit in starcraft have 0 supplies, but I think it would crash.

Also, there was some limit exapander some place...

yeah on staredit.net thats what it was called... and no putting 0 for every unit won't crash. After all, eveen SC X-tra Editors used zero supply for all units.

There's a limit of 1700 sprites per SC map running at once; if you give all the units 0 supply requirement, than as soon as the amount of units and buildings everyone made is bigger than 1700 minus the amout of doodads that have tops (like trees) starcraft will display a writing in the bottom of the screen telling you that you reached the possible maximum amount of sprites and that you won't be able to create any new units or buildings (even if the older ones die and dissapear).

ok thanks, ill just keep doing it manually [changing each unit's supply, also if anyone could help me with the yamato gun it woudl be great cuz i still havent figured it out :)]

I know about the LimitExp, but it was for SC 1.13f iirc.

for me, it worked for any version.
then again, it is me...

hmm... unless it is on a fixed offset (doubt it), i don't see how, unless it's something else. will you upload it here since SEN is dead atm ?

*Meh* Do recall tweaking in SCMDraft 2's "master options" and being able to fiddle with some max' level... now if it'll work or not that I can't guarantee. Never tried because I hate over the edge, laggy maps. ;)

TheNomad

AFAIK, that is for the upgrade levels... on the other hand, I havent' touched the new Drafter.

Correction, the old "master options" are now labelled "profile settings". For the better or worse... :P

Hmm.. if you set a map in SCMDraft to have say 2000 sprites, and you save the map, would the limit while you playing also be 2000 sprites?

TheNomad

afaik, the sprite limit is hardcoded in the game, not in a map, so I'd say the answer is no. although a confirmation would be nice.

I will try to upload it...
But all of my computers are a mess right now...
Its somewhere around here...

The starcraft engine can only run up to 1700 sprites at once. To change that you'll have to rewrite starcraft itself.

Starcraft has memory allocated for 1700 unit(based off units.dat) slots, 2500 sprite(based off sprites.dat) slots, 5000 images(based off images.dat), and 100 weapons(weapons.dat based). If you set a map to have more than these contained in it(normally units), SC will load up to the 1700 and then stop loading them. Limit expander actually increased the size of the arrays sc uses for all of these(along with changing some rather annoying code). It also did increase the supply limit, so that it'd be able to take advantage of the insanely high new sizes.

Also, because this is a bit related and I should say it, the infamous valk lockup is due to hitting their own special limit at 80 weapons. That's so you don't overshoot the 100 weapon limit...but it's rather annoying. Also, SC has code that when the sprite/image limits are close to being hit, it speeds up the waits on some sprites...like the rubble/death.

However, in true response, I would have figured one of you guys with the FireGraft beta would have told him just to wait for the public release, since you know you can edit the supply that way.

IIRC the LimitExpander disallowed saving games (cos they resulted in crashing upon loading); does FG have this issue as well ?

Firegraft sounds like (no joke) it's going to be the greatest thing ever. Can't wait.

No, because the problem was caused by the inability to change the loading/saving code to accomodate the extra memory. FG isn't even planned to be able to edit the limits(except via plugin), because 1.14 made it almost impossible to do(instead of 1 function for units, there's about 100+ to change, so I'm not doing it). The problem was not associated with the 200 supply limit, as that is set by the engine at the start of every game.

I too would like to know about increasing the supply limit in Starcraft.

I've read the thread, and apparently Firegraft can do this; or can it?

Has anyone been able to get more than 1700 Sprites to load in the game, at once?

Edit::
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I figured since it was already on this topic I'd go ahead and bump it.

The supply limit can be edited with firegraft (not currently out yet)

And there may be a plugin over at maplantis that can raise the sprite limit. (look for the other thread around here that asks the same question for a link to the maplantis dns.)

You should have really just made a new thread.

Otherwise, follow u-238's advice.
