I was thinking wouldn't it be a helpful addition if in SC2 players could steal technology from enemy base's mean if a specialised unit would penetrate an advanced and unique enemy structure that holds tech upgrades it would takes some of their technology to be used as their own imagine protoss with the ability to fix their machinery ,special marine squads with a small shield amount , zerglings with target designation lasers on their backs...
Its for you if you liked this idea to expand in the possibilities .And remember SC2 needs to be a little different than SC1 and broodwar ,so it needs something new!:mad:

Well, if these "sabateurs" were ridiculously expensive, and were only able to be used once, there could be a balance... kind of...

I like the idea, but you would come to the point that some things arn't compatible.
Protoss repairing their units is compatible, while giving Zergs lasers/Bullets isn't.
But if you reduced the list of what can be stolen down to certain techs which are compatible between the races.

stolen tech is neat, but hard to balance.
blizzard can pull it off, and it doesnt need to be ridiculous.

But it does need an idea about what can the zerg get from stealing other tech.
thats kinda hard to find.

I don't know, maybe even something as simple as allowing infested terrans to use gauss rilfes as well. Or it could be some entirely new tech that blizzard would have designed to be compatible.
Another idea is if the tech were only then available at a certain building and if you wanted to equip your marine with shields, you have to bring him to that building and give him a shield generator.

Zerg could take from the terrans the chemicals from the Stim packs and utilise them. Possibly something from the Medic tech to increase their rate of regeneration.

From the toss the zerg could take the speed increases (Zealots) use it to increase the speed of their own units. And possibly rudementry Psy manipulation, Psystorm etc.

Another good idea would be to alter the techs that players steal each time...
So he wouldn't find the same techs all the time in the same place

true, but the ZEALOT speed increase, the "stealable" speed increase is mechanicle.

Zerg:

From Terran: A research ability (appears in the Ultra Cavern) that changes the Ultralisk's appearence, makes it have tougher armor, and hit harder. Make it a Mecha-Lisk!
From the Protoss: A research ability from the Hive that gives Z-lings and Hydras a small amount of shielding that recharges slower than protoss shields.Terran:

From Zerg: A research ability that makes Marines and Firebats regenrate slowly.
From Protoss: A research ability that gives certain buildings shielding, or maybe something that gives the ghost more special abilities.Protoss:

From Terran: A research ability that teaches the protoss infantry terran tactics, making them faster.
From Zerg: A Research Ability that teaches protoss how to harness regeneration, making Dragoons automaticlly turn into Zealots when they die. Or maybe just basic Regen.
