Blasts of blue and purple super-heated plasma passed within feet of the hardened ferro-titanium hull of the EWS Banshee as the huge fleets traded fire at nearly point blank range. The block and robust war ships of the Eridanians sharply contrasted with the gentle curves and flowing lines of the Achirdian cruisers, whos sleek and slight vessels cut like a knife through the battle group, firing their plasma weapons at the larger, yet better armored, Eridanian battleships. Fleet Captain Aureas Tenagus was nearly thrown from his command chair as Achirdian vessels poured fire onto his hull. He cursed silently before re-composing himself before his command crew.

"Sir, we've lost electric turret control!" Yelled the Master Engineer.

"Hand crank the turrets if you have to!" Replied Captain Aureas.

"Target aquisiton gear just went down too!" Came the call.

"Then sight down the damn barrels!"

The massive twin projectile cannon turrets on the fore end of the battleship blossomed in fire, throwing huge slug like rounds at hypersonic speed. In the not so far away distance, an Achirdian Carrier rocked as the projectiles hit home, blowing straight through the weak armor and exiting the opposite side. Lights on the ships flickered, and finally went out. Bodies of the Achirdian sailors were ejected into the dark of space, suffocating and dying of the incredible cold. Aureas was indifferent as the turrets rotated to target another vessel. Aureas prepared to fire again...

The year is 3021 A.D., known to some as 39 A.E. Mankind is once again at war with itself. In 2022, after years of unsuccessful attempts, the USA in cooperation with the Japanese, managed to develop and land a self contained habitat that was landed on the Moon with the ability to support Human and plant life. Forty men and women from the two nations were the first people to live off world for any length of time. From then on, Human relations would never be the same. Nations united with the aim of interstellar colonization and exploration. Late in 2027, a similar habitat was landed on Mars, and by 2100 nearly a billion people were living off Earth in manufactured colonies on the Moon, Mars, Mercury, and Venus. Sub light engines created a booming inter-colony trade, and independence was restored to sea captains, who soon bought their own vessels and ventured into Space.

2123 brought a new level of achievement to the Human race. Early that year, the first faster than light, or FTL drive was installed and successfully tested. A ship jumped from Earth to Pluto, a journey that would normally have taken six weeks, was executed simultaneously and with little side effects to the test crew. Within twenty years, a colony had been established on Pluto. However, FTL drives were primitive and dangerous, and people had yet to leave the solar system. Peace abounded the Earth Colonies, which one by one declared peaceful independence from Earth. By 2210, all colonies were sovereign powers with their own armies and fleets of ships, though the idea of war was far from any Human's mind at this time. Trade was at an all time high, and people were high in morale. It was the greatest time in the Human race's history. In 2213, a huge project was launched to send colonists outside Earth's solar system, with two missions planned to take place simultaneously. The projects were aimed at the distant star systems orbiting the stars Epsilon Eridani and Achird.

The projects were planned and set up over the course of fifty years, finally culminating in the launch of the Epsilon Eridani Colonization fleet in 2264, followed by the Achird Colonization Fleet in 2265. Both Colonization fleets consisted of five cold storage vessels containing 500,000 men and women all together, as well as six ships containing prefabricated shelters, electronic equipment, freeze dried food stuffs, and other supplies that they would need after they landed on their target planets. Both target planets could support human life, and were designated Eridanus Prime and Achird Prime. The craft landed approximately five years after launching, each Colonization Fleet landing without problems. Men and women woke up, and began establishing the first extra-solar system colonies. By the year 2341, the Achird and Eridanus colonies had established contact with themselves and Earth, forming the first Interplanetary Alliance, which they called the Triad of Terran Powers, or TTP.

The year 2456 brought the three into a small conflict. FTL drives had become much more reliable and safe, and were on virtually all ships in the TTP fleets. By this time, the Achird and Eridanus colonies had terra-formed and landed people on all the habitable planets in their own star systems, and even managed to settle colonies of their own on neighboring star systems. They began to call themselves the Achird Planetary Federation (APF) and the Eridanian Republic (ER), creating their own interstellar nations and distinct peoples. The TTP began to break down in 2513 over territorial disputes and trade agreements, and by 2549 was completely defunct. Open war had not broken out, but they were now rivals, not fellow Humans in the eyes of their fellow Star Empires. The first shots fired in anger in nearly five hundred years were fired on January 23, 2601 when ground troops of the APF attacked and took an Earth colony in the earliest stages of development. Things began to heat up fast, and the ER mobilized its battle fleet against the APF in 2679. The first spacial engagements took place between a Frigate of the ER and a fighter wing of the APF.

The APF and the ER fought over territory for almost twenty years before a formal cease fire was signed on September 27th, 2698. With the cease fire, peace returned to the three Star Empires. The ever reaching arms of the three Human empires began to stretch, planting colonies and hundreds of worlds across the galaxy. On the year 2982, the first invasion of a Star Empire by another occurred. Battle cruisers of the APF Expeditionary Battle Fleet exited Light Speed in high orbit above Earth and Mars. Firing their recently designed plasma-based weaponry, they poured super heated weapons fire on to Earth till the oceans boiled and the atmosphere broke down completely. This marked the beginning of the years After Earth, A.E. Earth became a dead rock, and the rest of the Earth chief planets were simultaneously eliminated in the same fashion. Within three weeks, the Earth Star Empire had submitted to the control of the APF. Apparently having aspirations of ruling all Human planets, the APF began a similar invasion of the ER by 3019. However, unlike the Earth Star Empire, the ER was ready for such an attack. APF Battle cruisers were met by ER Dreadnoughts, and the most devastating war in Human history ensued. The war has been going on for only two years, but untold numbers of people have died. Can the Human race survive?

This is the first post of the APF/ER Interstellar War, please tell me what you think

Not bad... Not bad at all. I kinda liked it. :P

However, I belive venus is a gas planet, making landing a habitat on it an imposibilaty.

That's kind of redundent, there. ;) Might want to rethink that sentance, as well as:

The first shots fired in anger in nearly five hundred years were fired on January 23,

But yeah, other then a few little things... Keep up the good work. :P

Venus is a Terrestrial planet, meaning it is similar to Earth in physical composition. Venus is also similar to Earth in size. We're called sister planets for a reason. Anyway, if you could overcome the 900+ Fahrenheit temperatures on Venus and find a way to breath carbon dioxide, you could live on Venus.

we don't know for sure what's at a gas giant's core. it could be liquid, gas, or plasma. then again, it could also be solid! just watch out for the atmospheric pressure of like a gazillion tons. not to mention the lightning...

'self contained habitat' Meaning people would not have to worry about Carbon Dioxide or high temperatures, Kong. And as a side note, they had a lot of years to terra-form the planet...get enough O-3 into the air and it doesn't matter how close you are to the sun. They live inside the colony, sort of like in Alien. Oh the redundancy...I've always had a problem with that lol.

I think it was pretty good. The APF sound like a bunch of assholes, blowing up the Earth. It sounds pretty well thought out. I look forward to your next installment.

Fleeing Achirdian cruisers left little streaks of blue as they entered Light Speed travel, finally retreating from the Ceres system. Aureas had to give them some credit, they had not surrounded a single planet till they were drowning in blood and crashing into floating parts of their own ships in the emptiness of space. The last echoes of gun fire died out within the hour, and the Ceres system fell into the control of the Eridanian Republic. Aureas raised the command visor, as did the Chief Engineer. Regretfully, the Executive Officer Johan Grensborough had been killed in his command chair when an exploding vessel near the Banshee caused him to smash his head on the control consoles. The Captain himself has sustained quick a knock. Aureas stood, and closed the eyes of Johan.

"You did good, friend. Damn good. You've served your time in Hell, so be at peace now and forever." Aureas whispered quietly. A trio of medical personnel carried him out of the CIC and towards Sick Bay. A beep from his command visor drew Aureas' attention. He sat into his chair and dropped the visor over his eyes.

"This is Admiral Juzhou to the First Battle Group. You have all taken the first step on the long road to regaining our ancient home from the Achirdian Planetary Federation. All of you are to be commended for your discipline and great skill under extreme stress. This is the first system we have managed to take from the APF, and it will go down in history as the turning point of this war. The Fourth Battle Group is going to be warping in within the hour, though they arrive to late to help the battle. Upon their arrival, we will fall back to the Star Port orbiting Salurin IV, where we will lick our wounds."

Aureas almost smiled. It had been nearly five months since the Banshee had docked at a Star Port to replenish her stores. With an eighteen month endurance, she could stay out longer than a lot of vessels in the First Battle Group, but to remain all full capacity a stop every six months was recommended. The Fourth Fleet arrived as scheduled, dismayed to find the battle over. Salvage vessels were scouring the fields of debris when the First Battle Fleet warped to the Salurin system, where the cozy safety of a huge Star Port awaited he and his men. Exiting into real space, Aureas sighed with relief when the welcoming arms of the port came into view.

"Salurin Star Port, this is Fleet Captain Tenagus. Request permission to dry dock, repair, and take on stores." Said Aureas into the comm.

"Permission granted on dock arm four, welcome home Captain. Admiral Juzhou wants to see you aboard the EWS Ifrit." Came the reply.

"Copy, Port Authority." Aureas answered before again lifting the command visor.

"Sir? Your orders?" Asked the Chief Engineer, now the second in command with the death of the XO.
"
All crew have forty-eight hours of leave starting now. Arrange for repairs and supplies to be loaded." Replied Aureas.

Leaving the bridge, he made his way to the Captain's quarters, just down the hallway. Entering, he grabbed a bottle of a golden brown liquor and a small crystal glass. He poured himself a cup and swallowed before reaching into his closet to get his dress uniform. He buttoned up the sky blue coat, red stripe diagonally across his chest terminating in his side-arm's holster. He looked into the mirror, and ran a hand through his hair. This was not his first engagement, no, but it was the first one he lost a good friend and excellent officer. He turned to leave, but stopped when he saw the model on his wall.

It was a small scale model of the EWS Banshee, the lead ship of the Banshee-Class of Destroyers. Unlike most vessels in the ER fleets, the Banshee-Class was vertically aligned, resembling a banana flying through space. An odd shape, no doubt, but non the less an effective one. Her main weapons were six heavy projectile turrets. Two twin heavy projectile turrets were mounted on either side of the bridge, located about 2/3 up the vertical hull, and one single barreled heavy projectile turret were mounted on the top and bottom of the Destroyer. She also mounted an array of secondary turrets, SAMs, and anti-aircraft guns for destroying APF fighters, plus a twi tube torpedo launcher. A small fighter bay allowed for a single wing of scout craft. Her armor was good and her running legs strong. He smiled slightly, his pride for commanding the vessel showing through his troubled exterior. He took another swig of the liquor before exiting his quarters and heading for the corridor which would lead him into the Star Port.
